France and England are probably the best example of a traditional rivalry that is continued in the comic. Since Romania has no character representation, there hasn't been a chance for any rivalry to be focused upon. So far, Hungary has been the most antagonistic to Prussia and France, who keep daring to molest her precious Austria. (Well, a little bit is okay. >_> )

Since the time period isn't just related to WW2, the countries do mix to some degree. For example, Japan and America often spend time together--whether Japan likes it or not.

Hetalia skips around a lot, so there are different countries depending on the time period. Prussia features most heavily in the short series of strips loosely centered around Maria Theresa (Seven Years War, ect, ect).

Also, she's Russia's "younger sister", while Ukraine is Russia's "older sister". Taiwan is described as strong-willed and fashionable. Belgium, I don't remember ever seeing and she has no profile description, so...
Ah, thanks for the info on the other females. I don't know much about them ^^; Ah, as for Belarus, she has briefly appeared in the Meeting of the World comic

Don't worry xD Liechtenstein is not the tsundere loli type, so her seiyuu wouldn't be using that Shana/Louise/Taiga line.

from this http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/hnsan.htm
It just mistranslation in livejournal. if you read Japanese Ver, you surely would not remember that line. :P

Belarus also appear with Russia in Canada Strip, though we can see only her back. According to her relationship chart, Russia scares her a bit, even is just"a bit" I stills ...

It's just a free download demo which is very very short.

For Seychelles personality, I think she is a typical heroine in bishonen-game, IMO nothing special about her .

New character profiles up on Himaruya's site. Since it was just discussed, I'll note that Hungary's profile now includes "Has a dog and monkey [in other words, bad, like "cat and dog"] relationship with Romania".

Is there an english version out somewhere?
And if not, is there a good fandub?
This looks awesome.

Fandub? There's no anime yet, so there wouldn't be a fandub or fansub yet, but there are scanlations...sorta..

The manga is a set of 4koma like the web material. Volume 2 comes out in December.

I just came across Hetali Axis while browsing Tvtropes, and I'm already sold!

So nice to know that an anime is coming! And my home country is gonna be voiced by Romi Paku!!!!

Has there been any appearances of (almighty) Vatican-tan, or (stamp collector) SanMarino-tan yet?

I think Hetalia is not exclusively on World War 2 period. As many posters noted it skips around a lot and many non informed history of Europe manga readers will be sufficiently confused.

This is probably the inner-perv breaking out, but when I saw the title I was expecting some extremely ecchi type of show because the first word looked like a mash up of "hentai" and "genatalia" :O

I am totally surprised.. Kugimiya Rie will be voicing one of the characters.. This is a WWII-related anime, didn't expect her to be among the seiyuu cast. She is voicing Liechtenstein, a country located in Eastern Europe.

In this case, Hetalia Axis Powers will probably be another comedy instead of something more serious. Looking forward to it.. (^_^)

Liechtenstein is not in Eastern Europe.

I got the feeling that Romi-san might end up flanderizing the Swiss.

I can't wait for this anime, especially since my favorite couple AustriaxHungary is featured (and Hungary voiced by Michiko Neya, FMA's Riza Hawkeye, probably the only female anime character I adore, is win.) I'm a little sad that my other favorite couple SwedenxFinland isn't featured. But hey, who knows, maybe if the anime does well, which I suspect it will, they will put them in the second season.

Oh, and America is voice by Katsuyuki Konishi (Agatsuma Soubi from Loveless) <3 America is awesome incarnate to begin with, but with his voice, and Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke from you know what!) as UK, I can't wait to watch the two interact. The American Independence parts are going to be killer good XD

Actually, for a preview, you can try searching for the drama CDs.
