Except that a lot of people read the reviews and lets it influence them.

Plus the merc that comes with it is saddening - cheap posters, that are creased beyond repair, stickers? The postcards are probably the nicest thing. I wish they included the drama CDs with a translation booklet like in the Fate/Zero boxset.

If I do splurge I'll probably only get volume 3 LE, otherwise I'd just wait until holidays where they'll have a sale on the individual BDs.
DVDs? No where near $20. Discs are cheap and authoring them is simple. Combo packs does not change the price as much as you might think.

I don't care about the posters since I wouldn't put them on my wall anyway. What I like is the OST and the bonus material booklet. Plus, the boxes are really nice.

If you don't like the pricing send an e-mail to Aniplex and wait for the cheap complete collection with no extras.

Speaking of no extras and all that, I'm kind of disappointed that there aren't regular unboxing vids with the BD or DVD copies of PMMM. I only see the damn LE volumes on YouTube lol.

The unboxings of the LE contain the dvd/bluray sets though, which are essentially the normal versions

But they don't come in the BD boxes though lol. And well, what do you know. I just checked YT again, and one guy unboxed the regular edition BDs.

I think it'd be kind of funny if the JPN release BD set has ENG subs and vastly better extras.

I think he meant better extras. The English subtitle track is relatively rare.

It's become more popular recently, especially on titles that that are big in the West (Haruhi, Lucky Star, DRRR, Fate/Zero)

Yeah I know. I think they should just sub everything.

Might hurt the North American licensing companies even more though, especially for people who don't want to whoop out 200+$ for a series. But it seems like this is the new trend - not that I'm complaining.

No one would one to spend $200+ for a series. Retain the North American scene, but leave them as dubbed (or continue subbing or both), but give the JP imports a boost by subbing them as well (and adding extras).

Nanoha Movie the 1st Blu-Ray subbed, 5 cm per second Blu-Ray Global (subbed too and dubbed), Akira 30th anniversary (subbed and dubbed), Haruhi Blu-Ray box (subbed and dubbed)

Plus, the subtitle fonts shouldn't fill up like 1/4 of the screen and not be centered. I remember someone posting the eng. subs of ep1 of Madoka released in the US, and they looked disgusting.

Oh right I forgot that im one of the many (or few) that bought Fate/Zero (I'm wondering how many import the shows from Japan for reasons of better packaging): CLANNAD Blu-Ray complete NA release is too pitiful to collect.

A toast to see if they'll release a complete set of the movies with sub and dub (in JP import release).

They aren't too bad. They have a different preference in location, that's for sure. In Fate/Zero, the subtitles are moved away from key parts, like someone's face. It isn't that bad.
