So someone tweeted ZUN about it and this is the reply. Go to the ANN link in the op post as they updated it with this info. Seems like a doujin animation. Some shorts or Tencho investigates the Touhou franchise IMO.

All the reports I've ran across state that ZUN actually gave approval thus making it officially endorsed. I'll be curious as to what unfotable has planned for it.

though seriously I would like to see touhou anime itself but the first thing I saw is the crazy merchant in luckystar as a middle man on the poster.... I know his funny plus his crew on that shop but I still like a touhou anime itself -_-

This is an anime tenchou / touhou crossover OVA, or something like that right?
That video that was posted was just a fan-made PV and doesn't relate, right? I've heard someone say that's footage from the actual anime. ?_?
Either way, I'd still really like to see what they do with this. It'll probably end up being hilarious.

Anyway i'm so hype with the news, hopefully the announcement from Animate doesn't disappoint me. Really wish to see TH gets a legitimate animation.

I thought this would be a commercial TV series until Zun himself says it's "a doujin anime"

oh well I'll watch it anyways. at least the animation quality should be much better than what we've seen so far.

Just need to have sufficient amount of beam spam and decent music score would be good enough for me.

I was wondering this too. Whatever happened to his "no commercial works" policy? But then again, we have been seeing tons of official figures and toys of Touhou, so maybe he finally bowed to the beckoning of extra yen.

I don't really get why they would combine Anime Tenchou and Touhou. Those concepts don't seem to match, ntm Anime Tenchou looks modern, and Touhou is an alt universe version of olden Japan...

I don't think we should be hyping this project as official Touhou anime. It will most likely be just a short OVA episode about Anime Tenchou playing Touhou or doing some danmaku.

On the other hand, just imagine the rage in Japan if they make him beat some touhous in danmaku...
