Just when you think it can't get worse, it gets better... I mean worse... I can't tell.

Yuka seeing a... "misunderstandable" scene between Kakeru and the double-sword girl and then wanting a kiss was sudden and hilarious development that takes over half of the episode.
What was the point of the sword-girl taking off her clothes anyways?

And then it is time for the weekly world of red...
While the great protagonist is as weak as ever and grunting and stuff, the new girl that won't speak unleashes a chain attack that kills the bad guy (who's head flew away?).
Speaking of Kakeru, he really must suck if he can't catch up to Yuka...

I'm watching this anime, but until now mmm ... bad guys seem to be quite weak so, no interesting fights. The plot could be interesting but it is too early to get it. Some subdued romance? Not even. I mean, Yuka is "a bit" annoying, just to be kind , and Misuzu doesn't stand a chance.
But I'm curious so I'll keep on follow it.

Well, can we really say that Yuka is annoying? (I would kill to have an osana najimi like that). I mean, she feels like nothing if Kakeru parted with her (I guess she's another Kaede, as dedicating her existence to the protagonist) I hope they make up soon. Note: I havent played the game, so don't kill me if I spoiled something, it's just a speculation.

Either I'm guessing that the studio doesn't have enough funds, or the script is written by some guy who only knows the most general version of the actual story, but the fact is that we're getting a crappy adaptation once again.

I think i'm dropping this anime for now unless it miraculously gets better . The last VN adaption i watched was Chaos;Head and while it wasn't good (quite bad actually ) i didn't think it was possible to top that .

Yuka is possibly the most annoying character i have seen in an anime with her "Kakeru-kun" every five seconds . She even rivals Orihime from Bleach who repeats "Ichigo-kun" a gazillion times per episode . Also was it ever explained why Yuka is so clingy to Kakeru and why Kakeru is so determined to protect her ? (Or maybe i just wasn't paying attention ) . The clingyness amplifies her annoyingness by a million percent and while I can understand that Kakeru wants to protect Yuka , does he have to repeat it at least five times per episode ? .

Fights have been pretty either been pretty okay to pretty bad . This week's fight tops the lot in terms of.....shortness? Basically bad guy appears , talks crap and he dies in five seconds . I've read that the fights in the VN are pretty epic and if so the scenes in the anime have been a major disappointment.

PS : Minor gripe but Kakeru's eyepatch is hilariously stupid looking .

They did, briefly in first ep.

After first ep, Kakeru explained that when his sis died, he was moved on to an orphanage where he befriended Yuka, which was probably his only friend (and vice versa too) all the way until high school.

And remember that Yuka and Kakeru have that traumatic experience of seeing Kukuri die and Kakeru? wounded, so they depend on each other for comfort.

It's not a surprise why both are clingy to each other because they are like an unofficial family.

That's because it's purpose is supposedly to draw attention away from his weird-looking eye. Yet, it does the exact opposite cause it's so gaudy and ridiculous.
