ANN: The Mushishi: The Next Chapter anime's television broadcast ended on Sunday with an announcement that the Mushishi: The Next Chapter's Suzu no Shizuku arc will play in theaters early in Summer 2015. The film will be a special compilation of "Suzu no Shizuku," which was the last two-chapter arc in the main manga series.

The series always had continuity - it was just subtle. The concluding double-chapter is the concluding chapter - it finishes the manga for a reason, and that's what the movie is going to adapt.

The official website for the Mushi-shi anime adaptations has announced that a feature film Mushi-shi: Suzu no Shizuku, which is based on the final two chapters of Yuki Urushibara's manga series, will be screened at 10 theaters across Japan from May 16. The same main staff with the previous TV series including the director Hiroshi Nagahama are attached to it. It will be screened with a special episode "Odoro no Michi" based on the two chapters included in the manga's 7th tankobon volume. |

Just saw it. Honestly, it felt like an OVA rather than a film, and I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't as conclusive as I'd hoped. Nonetheless, I could see how this particular story makes for a satisfactory ending to the series. It's pretty hard to top encountering someone who is quintessentially a god among the mushi.
It was nice to hear Shiver one last time, and even though I'll miss Ginko's adventures, I'm grateful to the anime team for making the journey such a hauntingly beautiful experience.

That was...beautiful.
40+ minutes of Mushishi beauty. I knew Kaya wouldn't return to normal after all that and although she may be "near", she'll never be the same again. Loved the emotional appeal that combined with elements of fantasy in this to tell a human story. The OP theme song is also fantastic as I could remember.

Wow. That was definitely worth the wait, and what a hauntingly beautiful story to end with.
While for Ginko the road goes ever on and on, for us at least it's the end, but what a wonderful journey it's been. The way the second series followed on so effortlessly from the first, as though there'd never been an eight year gap between seasons, and the way the show just oozes atmosphere is a tribute to the director, the cast and crew. |

Absolutely ... beautiful.
Also, the summary of Kaya's brother's experience of hearing the bells a second time: that it was a beautiful, sorrowful harmony that tears the heart to shreds.... What a great summary for the series in its entirety. How sad that this is the end, but yet how wonderful to have had the privilege to be exposed to such lovely art in this day and age. Thank you to all the staff involved in the anime production as well as the mangaka. This was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and moving works ever made.
