Me and my sister tallied up the money and store credit we got for christmas and figure it was about time to get into the "new" generation of consoles:

My mother offered us a copy of Super Mario Galaxy when we bought the console, that's what the nunchuck is for

Storage is, coincidently, handled by the old 120GB hard drive (in a usb enclosure) I pulled from my PS3 when I upgraded it to a 500GB disk. That should about cover it.

My last online purchases on this year:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 + Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas from Steam with 75% and 40% discount respectively.

Also just received a parcel from AmiAmi with this album, a pre-owned 1/7 figure with A/C rate, 2 Puchimas accessories (can strap + carabiner, actually does prefer other Puchidol's but all were sold out) with significant discounts.

I started collecting Japanese novels even though I cannot read well yet. The last major purchase I got was Ningen Shikaku by Dazai Osamu.

I just bought the game from Steam called 100% Orange Juice, pretty good I think if I have to give my first impression.

There's a new pointing nub on the right side of the device, it has replaceable backplates and the 3D function is improved by adjusting according to your viewing angle (no more playing in a stiff position to avoid loosing the 3D effect).

Also: the horsepower of the system (CPU) is improved which means that there may be games that won't be compatible with the current 3DS and 2DS systems.

Asus 24" LED VN247H times two, during holiday sale. Saved like 60e.

Compared to my two 6-year old monitors, these ones are so crisp my eyes haven't adjusted yet.

Oh I see. I might be tempted then, depends on how much the North American version costs when it's finally released sometime later this year.

(I'm hoping $200 New or cheaper)

I'm personally waiting for the European release to replace my 3DS XL with one. I can't really get used to how humongous the XL is and only bought it because the regular version was basically sold out all around town

I've never owned a DS or 3DS before myself, this "New 3DS" would be my first Nintendo product.

(I grew up with only PlayStations in my house)

I should mention that you won't see the improved performance on the New 3DSs in 3DS games unless they've been programmed to take advantage of the faster CPU- the big one at the moment being Smash Bros. 3DS, which loads a heck of alot faster than on the older 3DS line (and doesn't require a Home Menu reboot when you exit the game). The upcoming port of Xenoblade Chronicles is one example of a game that will only work on the New 3DS due to the performance requirements.
Overall system performance and the Internet Browser (now able to playback HTML5 video) are the main beneficiaries of the upgraded CPU.
The C-stick (nub) can be used as a substitute for the Circle Pad Pro for games that can use it, like Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Another thing, only the regular New 3DS has swappable cover plates (as of writing, Japan has 54 sets to choose from), whereas the New 3DS XL has a metallic finish.

On that note, I got a few neat birthday presents...

Got an IKEA DETOLF display case to take up some dead space in my room and rearranged the cables behind my desk to cleanup all the clutter.
