1) DVRs - TV ratings don't count recordings. 2am on a Friday morning is not exactly live-viewing friendly. Plus the 1.7-2% is pretty standard for that sort of timeslot even for previously commercially successful shows such as Code Geass season 1. 2) Music is independent of the show - the music can sell tens of thousands without the show itself being good; the two are not mutually inclusive. It is now very easy to sample music due to fan made videos and sites such as Youtube/nicodouga and people do buy just the music without knowing anything about the show itself. 3) People dropping the show midway.

TV Tokyo must really not have a great market share; I would think that it's shonen adaptions besides naruto would do better then they do.
BONES shows have been on every major network except NHK now. Still most of em are for hardcore fans except e7 and fma. Library War for being such a different show, did pretty well in the Noitamina slot. RD isn't hitting the high notes of it's NTV precesesors but seems decent for late night. Yatterman has hiccuped but seems fair. I think standards for prime time anime are much lower these days. Conan is a mere shell of his former self. |

Children constituted the largest group of viewers for television anime programs in general, except for those which aired after midnight. Other than men and women aged 50 years and over, teenagers aged 13-19 years often numbered among the least likely to watch anime, excluding notable exceptions like Crayon Shin-chan and Doraemon. Teenagers made up the largest group, however, to watch live action dramas like ROOKIES and Koizora. Wow, revisiting this thread brings back so many memories.
With all these data here, I'm sure everyone here now knows what I meant when I said "Sazae-san" "Chibi-Maruko-chan" and "Doraemon" will usually triumph all the other shows, and that all the rest of the anime that you guys are watching are just a drop in the bucket compared to these behemoths. |
