Heck yes, the new contest! I'm not very talented in this aspect, but how about a Japanese spring focusing on a sakura pink with a couple other tones from that mixed with a tiny bit of white?

Don't know how extensive my suggestion has to be, eheh I'll try and cook up something simple, at least.

Don't know if this will work, but I went with a sakura/peach mix of colours; I think it contrasts decently well in both forum styles.

Seeing how this is the season of the dead and the undead a darker theme would be nice

Some stuff I randomly tried.

I guess spring should stand out a bit but not overbearing. Gradient shouldn't be too heavy but an accent is needed. That's sorta my concept in making the gradient.

Mind sharing your solution then?

Anyways, seems the mods are busy, and in the interest of starting this contest before June comes around, should we just put it up to a vote right now? I personally prefer Green's first or third one, but slightly more vibrance/saturation would be better. Pastel colors in general seem to fit well with the boards IMO.

Spring means sakura, and that means pink!
And so you have to make yuyuko of touhou appears! Alongside Yukarin.

Well whatever, good, I will be enjoying this but since I'm bad at this I will enjoy it from far away he he he.

With due respect, he's shared his solutions before, but we've chosen to continue running the contest the current way, at least for the duration of the four seasons. So, for the moment, it's not going to change.

I've been watching the thread, but wanted to give people a bit of time to submit something, since creativity takes time. Let's give people one more day to put forward their submissions, and then we can put it to a vote.

Ah, I see. I wasn't aware of that.

Well I certainly don't want to rush others, and if there are other graphics designers that would like to suggest alternate gradients, but haven't had the time or inspiration yet, then I'm certainly open to giving them one or two more weeks.

It's just the thread seemed stagnant after a couple of initial posts, and I didn't want the thread to just sit there for weeks with no activity.

Okay, sorry for the delay. I've added a poll now, so please vote!

Note that I eliminated blue themes and dark themes because, as I mentioned in the opening post, we're hoping for something different than what we've used before. We used dark for Fall, and blue for Winter (and probably again for summer), so this time something a bit different would be nice. (In a few cases where there were similar designs, I just picked one. If that style gets chosen and there were variants, the staff may choose one of the variants if we find it to blend better with the theme.

Anyway, the poll will be open for 6 days, and then we'll begin the contest promptly. Thanks for your help!

NOTE: There's a problem with the second option where the gradient isn't exactly vertical, but if that design gets chosen we'll fix it so that it will work.

I should also say the staff may choose at their discretion to veto a choice if we really, really feel it won't work as a gradient that matches the site themes. I doubt that'll be needed, though, since I trust everyone's judgement too. If we have to veto, we'd try to go with the next most-favoured choice.

Way too difficult a choice, but I had to go with #3.

They're all nice, and I would be glad if you decided to go with all of them like what happened with the banner contest a season or two ago, but I had to vote for the third from the bottom. It's very pretty.

I'm excited to finally see this in motion, and had to pick the very last gradient. Lovely work!
