In other news, I was surprised that Web Ch6 of Alicization was translated recently by the Chinese TLers. I had thought they'd finish CotM first before they get back to this >.>

Basically the backstory of 'Gabriel Michael', the sociopath that's part of the US team attacking Ocean Turtle (and the guy who won the last Barrett of Bullets in GGO, using C4 to blow up Sinon's sniping position). The guy is a textbook-perfect case of a functional sociopath, completely uncaring about other people, willing to kill them for his own goals/entertainment, and not obvious enough to stand out and have measures forced upon them.
And yes, I know it's a "textbook-perfect" case because I had taken a psychology course and have the textbook for this >.>

Other detailed descriptions of heinous crimes in the narration aside (such as murder of his family + fiancee, and another four cases of abduction and murder of US civilians besides those), Gabriel have a obsession with Sinon as she put up more of a fight than other players in GGO, and had more realistic responses to other gamers when placed in life-or-death situations. If it weren't for the job to attack Ocean Turtle taking up his time he would have planned out a way to slowly beheading Sinon the next time they fought in the BoB tournament with a combat knife. Yeah, this guy is as messed up as PoH or other major villains of this series.

Other background stuff that's sort of important in this chapter was the 'soul' or Fluctlight is visible to the human eye in SAOverse if the person is killed in a certain way. Gabriel found this out when he killed his fiancee (I'll spare you guys the details), and also when he bought a NervGear off the black market (which costed a fortune) and remodified it to try it out on one of his victims. Frying someone's brains with this also counts as one of the methods that can get a visible fluctlight leaving the corpse.

To conclude, SAO series/characters can be really, really messed up >.>

And I can forsee people cringing once he reaches the Black Cats arc. And as floor by floor passes, and readers grow to love the Black Cats as Kirito does over three volumes..... hope rises for another solution, for some other way to save them all, for Saachi at the very least to have the privilege of demanding more deban in later volumes with Scilla and Lizbeth.

And then Reki trolls us all by sticking to the Canon solution, and apologizing by explaining it along the lines of : If Saachi remains, the Asuna route could not have happened.

What follows are ten depressing volumes to Red Nose Reindeer.

And once Scilla shows up, that's the sign that the Black Cats Arc and it's bitter After-story is over.

I'd be honestly surprised if after SAO ended, SAOP fanbase is still strong
74th & 75th floor are already in Vol.1, if he's following 2 floors per book, we have 30+ years of SAO coming and after that they'll adapt each book into a 1h OVA

Well given how well Progressive sold...

Either way- whether it's Vanilla or Progressive, he's just using what he had written before while doing some modifications along the way so it shouldn't be too time consuming.

How did it sell?

While Progressive 1 has all those side stories, I doubt he has it planned out from Floor 1 to 75, though he may have some rough ideas. Since we (probably) won't have any big skips, I imagine at least half of the volumes are original stories.

He can modify Alicization since it's based on his web novel, but he's also working on AW. We may not even get 1 volume per year.

Third week number hasn't come in yet.

Of course, I don't know how much is riding on the hype, or whether those numbers would carry on in the future.
