Fair enough, but, as they say in the courts: "Well you're a doodie head neener neener."

Basically the red text cannot be used in Rokkenjima Prime and in fact, the red text technically comes from that level, via the two authors. Red text was an invention of Yasu/Beatrice and Battler/Tooya also used it for his stories. As authors they probably did some research on certain facts or already knew some things and included them in their stories. And the red text can only be things like that that they decided to add to the story. The red text that concerns things like the settings or character and character actions, of course. Not the red text that is specific to episodes, for example.

But as authors of Rokkenjima Prime, their stories or red text could be invalidated by new information, like if they discovered Erika's body somewhere else. Or Eva's diary. Or someone found information from Kyrie's old shady dealings. Etc, etc.

And so that's where you get Red text being described as absolute and yet being invalidated later.

This may not have been what you guys were talking about, but I thought it might have been good to bring up.

Will post the final summary batch later today. Requesting someone to please give me the properly translated of the final text scroll at the end of the ??? just before the credits because I'm too tired to do it myself at this point.

Just wanna sit back and reflect at what I've seen so far. Initially thought I'd be bored and angry at the end of Ep8, but almost surprisingly I loved most of it and was almost completely satisfied by the given ending. At this point, if given the choice between inner peace and absolute truth, I'd choose inner peace any day.

So anyone got the final text scroll so I can finally put a close to this little project?
Do you mean the video at the very end? Someone subbed it on YouTube, at least:

It is done. ??? completed and Episode 8 completed.

Spoiler for Summaries:

The End.

And that as they say is that. The entirety of Twilight of the Golden Witch in a gigantic, hastily made and poorly worded summary. Thanks to everyone who commented and gave corrections and feedback to this little endeavor of mine, too me almost 6 weeks of on-off playing just to finish it but finish it I did.

So that ends 4 episodes worth of summaries with the end of ep8, despite the fact that I only managed to finish 2/4 and the other two halfway done.

Oh yes, chances are I'll do this again if Rsukishi makes another When They Cry series.

This is Meo, tired and hungry, taking my leave.

Thanks for the summary, I got the gist of it before but I don't trust my Japanese skills at all, so your summaries helped me a lot.

I'll never understand how a paraplegic Battler managed to escape the island using a motorboat, but it's possible. It's just that the mental image of it is just so amusing it hurts.

Actually, if I recall correctly, Tohya explains that at one point he tries to commit suicide and fails, leaving him in a wheelchair.

Yea, it's pretty obvious that he got crippled the same time he lost his memory.

Huh, didn't get that part at all when I read it. Well there goes the amusing mental image.

It's not really made clear wether being paraplegic was a result of him almost drowning or of an attempted suicide that followed later. But it was definitely something that came after his escape from Rokkenjima.
I assume it happened through him almost drowning, because Ikuko often mentions how he doesn't have simple amnesia...so I assume that his body and brain suffered due to the oxygen-loss.

Some small things that I'd like to correct about Meo's summary. Sorry for being so bold, it must have been really hard work.

Medically speaking his paraplegia was likely a result of brain damage affecting the primary motor cortex, causing him to lose the use of his legs as a result of the accident. The thing is however, unless he hit his head somewhere hard enough to cause traumatic tissue damage, the injury is likely a result of prolonged hypoxia from diving into the sea after you know who. The problem here is that hypoxic brain damage is more often universal than focal, so if this were the case it would be odd that he only lost complete use of his legs combined with retrograde amnesia. It is more likely that he had traumatic head injury before he was discovered by Hachijou.

Or, y'know, Ryukishi doesn't actually know what happens when you're drowning.

Three things you are likely to get in fiction that are extremely unlikely in reality:
  • Retrograde amnesia.
  • Psychosomatic paralysis.
  • Post-traumatic stress-related loss of speech.
Ryukishi was close to the trifecta, but he can't have a character who doesn't talk, although Tohya only being able to communicate through writing would've been so fitting.

"The entire truth is here, in this book."

"I'm not familiar with this script."

"Oh, that's Manx. Until recently, only two people in the entire world could read and write it. One was an old man in England who died several years ago. And the other one was........... oh. Well."

If Umineko Rei doesn't include a hilarious adventure as Ange attempts to first recover (through a series of hilarious mishaps) and then actually decipher Battler's notes on The Real Actual Truth, I will be quite disappointed.

"There's nothing in here but drawings of big-breasted witches and 'ihihihihi' written over and over in the margins. Goddamn you, Battler!"

"Alright Ange, you deserve to know, the one truth."

As Battler tells her, a train speeds by, preventing Ange from hearing anything.

"Onii-chan, say that again? Onii-chan?"

Battler's eyes had gone cold and dead. "God dammit, what happened now?"

Hachijou, with a pained expression, said, "The interference of all the wifi must have interfered with his pacemaker..."

"OH COME ON!"

The truth, on the other hand, would just be all the more painful if Ange realized incompetence runs in her family.
Spoiler for Totally The Truth, Honest:
