Fairy Tail Anime Episode Discussion Thread [Episode 165 and Onward]

I don't remember the last Fairy Tail episode where I laughed so hard as in this one. Seriously, they were all on a roll from happy to evergreen's plan

Well I liked that guy's design in the manga although in the anime I find him weird sometimes

Enjoyed how they made both battles (especially Gray and Loke vs Mest and Wendy, which wasn't shown in the manga). They made the episode even more funny than in the manga

A shame that next episode is not going to be called "Stupid Gajeel", well you can deduce how they are going to call the episodes so it wasn't a surprise. Anyway it looks that things are gonna get interesting

Its great how the animated this episode, Mest's weirdness is epic as usual, but Wendy's weakness is plums? of all things.

Now the exam would truly be complete if we can see Mystogan in action again, but sadly that won't happen.

Evergreen & Elfman vs Mirajane! Wow! She's strong.
There's something off about Mest, like he just came into existence. Wonder who's behind it.

Second round was pretty LOL as well as interesting.
Wow! The newcomer sure is a deadly one, but he seems to know Natsu well.

Mira's imagination... poor her. Liked how Erza got all hyped up by possible wedding.
Mest is a weird one but I like him. But looks like isn't an actual member... brain washing?

I'm super eager to see this arc's rogues gallery in action, since it seems we'll at least get introduced to them next episode. Judging solely from the opening, it seems Ultear will be coming into play, which also means her boss should finally be stepping out of the shadows after about a year since his introduction in the anime.

Poor Wendy what horrible way to loose a fight. However she is getting stronger and stronger. When we first saw her she couldnt use any offensive magic but now she ROAR at the snap of finger. She will get there as she gets older she will most def become one of the strongest in Fairy Tail in the next generation of wizards.

Gildarts is nothing short of a monster. However, it was nice to see Natsu learned something and figured what he was missing. The point of the test was not to actually beat your S-Class wizards i figured that out when master announced how it would work. I felt bad for Juvia and Lissana but as Ezra pointed out there are still lacking which is why they got beaten to an inch of their lives, she could have passed Juvia like Gildarts passed Natsu if she had shown she had recognized what her weakness is. Juvia is most def one of the strongest in the guild and does possess S-class type magic. But when you nullify her magic attacks she panics and just tries the same magic over.

Im loving the new OP btw why do i have the feeling that the so called bad guys we see in the opening are the ones that guard Fairy Tails first master tomb and they look insanely strong.

Why would they guard something so sacred to Fairy Tail from Fairy Tail? Besides, you may or may not have noticed that the lady with the orb in the opening is Ultear, the one who pulled Jellal's strings (she looks almost identical to how she did when she last appeared in episode 52, where she was revealed to be a member of the dark guild Grimoire Heart). And in case you forgot what Ultear said in episodes 48 and 52, the bad guys she's working with are looking for something, not guarding something. Judging from what was said in those episodes, that "something" they're looking for sure ain't related to Fairy Tail. If anything, Fairy Tail is just an obstacle to them. Rewatch these two episodes and see what I mean.

Ok... I'm not a fan of Zancrows voice... but great episode otherwise.

and as funny as Erza apologizing to Juvia was I just ssooo wanted to see as much of Levi and Gajeel's fight that I was screaming go away fillers (having read the manga I knew this episode would at least be the start of it this ep)... but in hindsight I admit that was really funny.

Anyways having read the manga... I find myself more and more excited to see S-class trail's anime take every week. It's not the perfect arc but overall I loved it, one of the best of the series IMHO. Can't wait for next weeks episode

Turns out the emo boy is Zeref, the "evilest" man in the history of ever. What a tweest.

They continue to exaggerate that this Mest character seems to be bad news, though not by much (exaggeration, that is). There's a hint to where his allegiance may truly lie, though it seems to be nothing more than that.

Ultear returns after an approximate 50-episode absence, and we get a more formal introduction to the bad guys of the arc: the dark guild Grimoire Heart, led by the once-shrouded-in-shadow Hades.

An adorable little scene between Erza and Juvia as our favorite nutty rain woman tries to find some distance from a suddenly melodramatic bikini-clad warrior to search for her somewhat "cold" Casanova.

Some cute interaction between Levy and Gajeel as they have a little spat, along with some reflection from Levy on just how much of a good or bad guy she thinks Gajeel is (though it's pretty obvious that she lllllikes him), which is quickly resolved by the arrival of a talking chicken and what appears to be some kind of camel. You do the math.

All in all, the animation seems to have taken a dip from the other recent episodes (doubtless there will be a fight next week, so let's hope either the animation improves then, or they're saving it for something big), but we got introduced to a what appears to be several colorful new additions to the steadily-increasing rogues' gallery. Will these bad guys top the doomed Oracion Seis guild in terms of entertainment? Stick around.

Well some rare Levy focus here. A fun little argument with her and Gajeel who really doesn't get it. Not surprised things aren't meshing well since he was so focused on getting into a fight but got the one route he didn't want (the no fighting one) and now it's a searching mission, not a battle focused one. Guess we could say the invasion by Grimoire Heart was the best thing for him. Of course Levy wishes he was a bit more focused on her. Lead to a lot of flashbacks though ironically neglecting the one where he beat up her and her team stringing them up on a tree....This fight should probably help their team spirit though.

So this guy is called Zeref. Someone who is supposed to be dead...Not sure what is going on here. He clearly knows about Natsu and expects him to become strong enough to kill him so he doesn't have to use his magic to harm people anymore.

So we get a showdown with Grimoire Heart. Will say it wouldn't be right unless we get a Gray vs Ultear matchup here. Figure if Ul's 'evil' daughter is going to show up pretty much requires a fight vs one of her students.

Could be a pretty crazy arc though with the strongest dark guild going up against S-class and hoping to become S-class wizards of Fairy Tail.

Bleargh Levy's gone tsuntsun on us. Also those flowers aren't going to change no matter how long you look at them Wendy. Also I was almost laughing at that super serious music over Lisanna and Mirajane cooking scene. There were kind of a few things wrong with this episode

Poor evilest wizard to ever exist. He only made those horrible monsters because he was lonely.
Although who knew Natsu was such a follower of fashion.

Anyway let's see what these Grimoire Heart people can do. NEXT WEEK

Just a reminder...

• Both Natsu and Gajeel seem to be over 80, or statues. Or so believes Freed's rune magic anyway
• But Zeref was alive >400 years ago, yet apparently still is and very young looking.
• The Zeref from 400 years ago was identified as the most evil and powerful mage in history, yet this guy is a lonely cry baby at that also a scarf of all things, could beat his attack... yet he also thought Natsu's punch was fodder level
• Natsu doesn't seem to recall whom this man identified as Zeref is, please ignore the whole forgetting his promise to the invisible village... that was filler. I mean one would think Natsu would remember the strongest most evil mage of all time, since he has this obsession with defeating the strongest

Yes, I have read the manga but there is no spoilers or hints in the above statement... I honestly just want to hear your thoughts on the matter after a quick reminder.
