I always prefer fast paced adaptation compared to slow paced one
you can see one piece for example, TOEI basically don't 'have episode count limitation' for this show, they didn't put any filler lately (except for some special/crossover episode) and each episode is basically equal to 1 chapter of manga it's DRAGGY as hell and believe me you don't want Magi end up like that just so we can get faithful line per line or scene per scene adaptation...

The beginning was pretty LOL
That Aladdin sure is one clueless kid. Alibaba got himself and interesting leech. Those two together are like a trouble magnet. It was nice how Alibaba finally found some courage. Nice first episode. Interesting concept. Has lots of potential.

Wow, this series is a pleasant surprise. I like the characters, it looks like the direction of the show will be fun and interesting. If Morgiana is anything like she is in the original Ali Baba story, then we'll be in for a real treat.
Mark me as being sold on this series.

That was a very charming first episode. I haven't seen many anime inspired by A thousand and one nights, so this is pretty refreshing.
I'm not surprised that Alladin was originally planned to be a girl since he still looks and sounds very girly. He's pretty moe, in fact. I'm not sure what to make of him yet, but his behavior was pretty fun. Alibaba was good, and will probably become even better now that he's started being true to himself. Yuki Kaji actually did a great job voicing him. He didn't annoy me as much as usual. Looking forward to more.

Aladdin sounds like a girl. I didn’t exactly picture that type of voice for him. I wasn’t picturing a manly man’s voice either, but a girl’s voice that doesn’t even attempt to sound like a boy, really?
Everything else was fine, except I think some parts was skipped. Certain boobs were not groped and was just skipped |

There was a post some pages back where supposedly, Aladdin's feminine mannerism and voice was ordered by the author of the original manga. Aladdin already had many people fooled as a girl when people read the manga, and the anime is not gonna dispel that

As for Yoshino Hiroyuki, I think he has issues with writing original works. Although I guess he does have Macross Frontier on his resume. I thought he did an alright job. In the manga, the main three characters were introduced in ways that didn’t express their true character to surprise us. There was no point in the anime doing the same since the three are all over promotional materials and the OP anyway, so condensing the beginning isn’t so bad. My only complaint was that they didn’t animate the scene with Aladdin’s head atop Ugo’s running body |

It's been a while since I've seen an anime with a character named Ali Babi, the last one was pretty good but this might be childhood nostalgia talking here.
Anyway enjoyable first episode also it was lovely to see the sarlac pit monster again (although it looks slightly different this time around) are there any sandraiders around as well?

I thought this was gonna be crap. It's actually okay, not sure that I'll keep watching it. I don't get what the target audience is. The story is extremely childish and cliche, yet boob talk every 5 minutes. Meh. Unless the story gets more interesting/deep, not gonna continue.

I'm a manga reader and I thought they did an extremely great job rearranging things for the first anime episode. It was fun, fast paced, looked and sounded great! Pretty much everything you need for a first episode.
Impressed with this so far and I hope they can keep this kind of quality up! |
