Hard to say for sure without knowing the details, but things may have turned out for the better if they had stayed in their vehicle, it's almost always a bad idea to leave your car when you're trapped in a blizzard. |

Well, this was a pleasant note from the US White House. We'll see if the FCC can follow up with some ironclad rules that protect user rights over tinkering with devices they've purchased and own.

^ The real question is whether after more than a decade the people behind Hugo Chavez will relinquish power. They can try to seize power by force or they can try some ugly fraud if elections are called (as their constituion states, in Venezuela the vice-president does not take the place of a deceased president).

Malaysia launches air strikes against squatter sultan's Filipino army
Malaysia bombs Filipino insurgents in Sabah - but they claim to have escaped unhurt I swear this is one of the fucking dumbest moves in military strategy. Airstrikes in an open area against a squatter group which is less than the size of a company? This operation should have been less overt - military cordons complete with APCs and Jeeps, combat patrols on shoot-to-kill, then send in the Rangers to flush them out. This is an INSURGENCY, not an all-out war. And if they want face? Simple, offer rewards for capture of living insurgents, then trial them in a proper court for crimes against the state.

You don't "bomb" an insurgency into submission. Malaysia does have a substantial military and probably has the strongest standing force in SEA, rivalling that of Indonesia's and Brunei's. It may not have the technological superiority of that of Singapore's, but its proficiency in jungle warfare is probably the best even compared to that of Brunei's, where the British SAS's Jungle Warfare School is located. This is more likely a bad decision made by lousy commanders, this could easily have been a cakewalk if they sent in the Gerak Khas and the RRR when that fake Sultan started waving his arms, although it might be a foreign affairs nightmare.
