(Non Yuri/ Shoujo Ai) Shoujoi Anime
I'm beginning to like girl theme animes at this moment but most I've seen has yuri contents that spoils my mood...Can anyone suggest me shoujo animes that:
1. Yuri is not the main theme. 2. Yuri is not in the side story either (eg. among friends) 3. I appreciate new animes. |

I think you've got your terms mixed up. Shoujo-ai is sort of an "unofficial" term for inexplicit, practically romantic relationships between girls... and has been sort of phased out for the catch-all term: yuri.
You probably don't want shoujo either as that is a demographic term for girls. I think you just want anime with all girl casts, right? Try Ichigo Mashimaro and the Aria series (gets much better IMHO after the first season). |

I guess I misread the topic title; I read it as you looking for "Non-yuri Shoujo-ai Anime" (as in them being separate entities) because of the errant "i" at the end of shoujo. In the end though it still seems you're using "shoujo" to just mean girls and not the demographic. Because yuri generally isn't rampant in shoujo, lol.

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Just shoujo anime or anime with girls?
Well, Aria was mentioned if you like watching girls befriending each other and stuff with no subtext. Then there is Kaleido Star from the same director, also with a casting made up of mostly females and holds in it some similar themes. I'd also give Full Moon wo Sagashite a try, which has gained a somewhat of a classic status in its type. As for the subtext issue, I don't think any of these have it, but sometimes it is in the eye of the beholder. There are people who see it everywhere, no matter what they watch. |

^Shounen, shoujo, seinen, josei are publisher-based audience demographics terms, used primarily for manga magazines [example: "Afternoon" is a seinen magazine; anything running on it is seinen, blood, gore, action, comedy, or just light-hearted cute]. In other words, you don't get to set it. They do. It's not battles and the power of friendship that makes something shounen, it's just that it "often" is.
I'm not even sure Nanoha has a specific fit within the four terms; it's an anime first, so there's no publisher to designate what the producers think it is. What's more, it's very popular among adult male otaku -- seinen ("young man"), kinda. That said, NeoChan, can you clarify more on what you actually want? I really don't understand what you're asking for, exactly. |
