^ True also it would kinda spoil the more possible pairings in the series if it was actually 'their love targets'.

Kanon and GEASS are my top picks for this season. The former is a tragicomedy that has me laughing and crying in one episode, while the latter drags me back down to earth and sobers me up.

Shower scenes banzai. It's great when the fanservice scenes have narrative justification: if somebody is in the nude (especially females) you can definitely catch them off guard or otherwise not thinking straight. I'm sure Karen would've been much more suspicious if she wasn't holding a phone nekkid with half a shower curtain.

I'm also interested in seeing the "swimsuit-wearing classroom sessions" that Lelouch mentions at the very end before the news broadcast. Also,

On the left love target Lelouch Ranperuji and on the right Suzaku. Thus they are in love with themselves.

I was being rather slack about watching this series until I heard about episode 3. I'm very impressed that
Spoiler:

And pardon me for being rude, but to the people who are angry that seiyuu from the 80s are getting phased out, I suggest letting go and moving on... It's not like the "new" seiyuu really suck that much, and it's inevitable that they must eventually go, which doesn't make their decreasing number of major roles very surprising. Besides the money factor (doesn't it cost a helluva lot to get Furuya to appear even for a short while?), I'm sure some of them want a little more time to themselves...
I dunno, it just seems futile.

Who knows - it could have been about who had a small crush on who, but not necessarily for the rest of the series, if you see what I mean - like, Suzaku could have had a soft spot for Nanaly since his childhood, etc, etc. Mere facts that wouldn't have an important weight on the plot - or that could change in the future eps. Thanks anyway.

After all, he does have an unfair advantage and Karen couldn't have foreseen it. On the other hand it would almost be a bit unnatural if Karen could bypass all his traps.
Well, Lelouch was thrown in an environment where only wits and duplicity could have guaranteed his survival knowing what happened to his mother and sister. Therefore it's normal for him to be a mastermind at such a young age. Karen, on the other part, probably doesn't live in the same world and doesn't have threats constantly hanging over her head (as I guess that, should Lelouch's true identity be revealed, he and his sister would instantly become targets for the other Britannia heirs) - I suppose she only joined after her brother got killed in the resistance or something like that (which confirms an earlier suspicion of mine - that both her and Suzaku are fighting against Britannia to avenge dead loved ones) at a later date than Lelouch started craving for his form of 'justice'.

Children apparently are born with more or less the same level of intelligence - but their upbringing and the environment they live in dramatically influence the way how the brains make connections and how the intelligence develops. In other words, Lelouch indeed has a greater head start over Karen.

Anyway, judging from their current relationship and the opinion I have of it in the near future (Lelouch/Zero guiding Karen from the shadows under that cloaked appearance) I don't think true, genuine romance can spring from it unless Lelouch gets a hint and reveals the truth to her before things get overly complicated. I'm sorta against that as it'd make a 'monotonous' relationship between the two and some change/evolution is needed to break such a boring routine - like Karen learning who Lelouch is or having to rescue him from Britannia, etc. Anyway, with the way this series is going, I'm sure I'll have some pleasant surprises during the next eps.

I'm not sure we can call him a psycopath...sure, he manipulates persons, lies (although it's not pathological, just because of his situation), and uses charm and possibly violence to control others to satisfy his own wishes but I don't see him having an antisocial personality disorder, he can socialize and empathize with others (cf. the student council) and he clearly doesn't lack conscience or feelings for others seeing how he worries about Suzaku and his sister and his reaction to his own reminiscence of
Spoiler for since you haven't watched ep3:

He's just a person hell-bent on revenge - and an intelligent one at that.

Suzaku's arrest. It's a only an assumption, but perhaps the Britannian authorities arrested him firstly on the basis of him being a countryman of 'Area 11' previously, adding up with the fact that the special forces sent to retrieve the 'chemical weapon' was annihilated while he survived, perhaps they would use him as an excuse for Clovis' death.
I think it's Jeremiah and Viletta's doing - earlier on, they were talking about insecurity increasing for Purists especially with Clovis now dead. I don't know what Jeremiah was talking about when he hijacked the APC (armored personnel carrier) carrying Clovis' coffin but I'm about to bet that he's taken Suzaku as a scapegoat to stir some pro-Purist and anti-Area 11 sentiments within the aristocracy to make up for Clovis' death - and therefore reinforce the Purists' standing in Area 11. At any rate, it does further their plans and kills two birds with one stone.

BTW, in the ep4 preview there's some limousine seen parading through the streets - could it be Clovis' replacement or Jeremiah trying to instate himself as the new governor of Area 11 or what? I doubt such a luxurious vehicle would be used to transport Suzaku.

Knowing Suzuaka its possible he went searching/asking around for Lulu and C.C. after the cease fire and roused suspicion regarding the special teams death.

^ Kinda funny after stopping himself from asking about Lelouch's safety to his teacher in episode 2 to avoid any slight suspicion.

He's just an unlucky guinea pig. -sans the sweatdrop

Yeah I hope for this too. The Lelouch/Karen relationship has real potential to be incendiary if they keep manipulating each other but never realise any true feelings. But like wao said I hope Karen gets the upper hand at some point, now that Lelouch has used his one Geass on her he'll have to be more inventive in further. Disposable maids are always handy in these situations I find. That scheme was genius on Lelouch's part.

Overal ep3 was again impressive, and the pace of the show in general is electric. I know a lot of people are 'excited' about the fanservice, but it could have been a lot worse. I didn't think it was lurid and Karen's blushing reaction was natural rather than out of character or cliche. Also Lelouch's tenderness toward his sister was handled well, it could have been really over-played, but it did the job of reminding us that he's not beyond redemption (even in light of his actions barely hours before).

Was interesting, as a Eureka 7 fanboy, to hear Karen (Anemone) and Nanally (Eureka) speaking briefly to each other again on screen, albeit in wildly different roles.

No really its probably like that, the scene where he is being escorted and gets hit in the face:

xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Suzaku: Please I don't care what happens to me... but please check and make sure the britannia student and green haired girl in the fashionable straight jacket are ok!

Guard: Shut up! You traitorous monkey! (smack!)

Suzaku: And I suppose you're sooo much greater 'cause you're the better monkey!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

...... or maybe not.

Correct - I would actually think she's just not human if she didn't blush after being seen naked by a guy you just 'wrongly' accused. That chop she did with the bee is whoa. May she kick more ass in the next ep even though she already got alot of screentime - I don't care - me want more.

Wow, I am impressed with ep3.

I love Karen x Lulu's interactions. It's so fun to watch them trying to outsmart each other, although Lulu has the upperhand for now.

I am liking Lulu as the main lead. IMO, he seems smarter than Light, at least he acts calmer when something happened unexpected. And the strategies he used seem less contrive than the ones Light uses.

I wonder when will CC appear again. It's been 3 episodes, and I think I only heard her talk once. Does anyone know how many episodes this show is going to be?

The main site just announced the details for the first DVD. According to what they said, the show should be 25 episodes I believe.

I think you'd have to be British to find the following screenshot hilarious...

Spoiler:

The nosey rider behind Millais is wearing formal hunting attire, usually worn during fox-hunting and other such reprehensible pursuits of the landed gentry in Britain. Full marks to the staff for observing British cultural absurdities.

I guess their main concern (rather than cultural exactitude) was to portray an aristocratic and elitist society comparable to the image we have of it, also conveyed by pictures we have of high colleges and schools like Eton, Oxford, Cambridge, etc, etc. Whether such a picture is obsolete or inaccurate to the country where it originated from doesn't really matter to the director, I guess, as long as stereotypes are passed over and easily identified.

That and that shot in the OP about Lelouch riding a horse - it just screams 'old-money folk', not 'retro', 'stupid' or whatnot. A large part of the audience won't care past their recognizing the said image.

All we need now is seeing the Britannian Parliament convening with people in wigs and robes to complete the big picture. That and a 'Rule, Britannia' song.
