Kanon and GEASS are my top picks for this season. The former is a tragicomedy that has me laughing and crying in one episode, while the latter drags me back down to earth and sobers me up.
Shower scenes banzai. It's great when the fanservice scenes have narrative justification: if somebody is in the nude (especially females) you can definitely catch them off guard or otherwise not thinking straight. I'm sure Karen would've been much more suspicious if she wasn't holding a phone nekkid with half a shower curtain. I'm also interested in seeing the "swimsuit-wearing classroom sessions" that Lelouch mentions at the very end before the news broadcast. Also, Spoiler:

I was being rather slack about watching this series until I heard about episode 3. I'm very impressed that
Spoiler:
And pardon me for being rude, but to the people who are angry that seiyuu from the 80s are getting phased out, I suggest letting go and moving on... It's not like the "new" seiyuu really suck that much, and it's inevitable that they must eventually go, which doesn't make their decreasing number of major roles very surprising. Besides the money factor (doesn't it cost a helluva lot to get Furuya to appear even for a short while?), I'm sure some of them want a little more time to themselves... I dunno, it just seems futile.

Children apparently are born with more or less the same level of intelligence - but their upbringing and the environment they live in dramatically influence the way how the brains make connections and how the intelligence develops. In other words, Lelouch indeed has a greater head start over Karen. Anyway, judging from their current relationship and the opinion I have of it in the near future (Lelouch/Zero guiding Karen from the shadows under that cloaked appearance) I don't think true, genuine romance can spring from it unless Lelouch gets a hint and reveals the truth to her before things get overly complicated. I'm sorta against that as it'd make a 'monotonous' relationship between the two and some change/evolution is needed to break such a boring routine - like Karen learning who Lelouch is or having to rescue him from Britannia, etc. Anyway, with the way this series is going, I'm sure I'll have some pleasant surprises during the next eps.

I'm not sure we can call him a psycopath...sure, he manipulates persons, lies (although it's not pathological, just because of his situation), and uses charm and possibly violence to control others to satisfy his own wishes but I don't see him having an antisocial personality disorder, he can socialize and empathize with others (cf. the student council) and he clearly doesn't lack conscience or feelings for others seeing how he worries about Suzaku and his sister and his reaction to his own reminiscence of
Spoiler for since you haven't watched ep3:
He's just a person hell-bent on revenge - and an intelligent one at that.

BTW, in the ep4 preview there's some limousine seen parading through the streets - could it be Clovis' replacement or Jeremiah trying to instate himself as the new governor of Area 11 or what? I doubt such a luxurious vehicle would be used to transport Suzaku.

Overal ep3 was again impressive, and the pace of the show in general is electric. I know a lot of people are 'excited' about the fanservice, but it could have been a lot worse. I didn't think it was lurid and Karen's blushing reaction was natural rather than out of character or cliche. Also Lelouch's tenderness toward his sister was handled well, it could have been really over-played, but it did the job of reminding us that he's not beyond redemption (even in light of his actions barely hours before). Was interesting, as a Eureka 7 fanboy, to hear Karen (Anemone) and Nanally (Eureka) speaking briefly to each other again on screen, albeit in wildly different roles. |

No really its probably like that, the scene where he is being escorted and gets hit in the face:
xxxxxxxxxxxxx Suzaku: Please I don't care what happens to me... but please check and make sure the britannia student and green haired girl in the fashionable straight jacket are ok! Guard: Shut up! You traitorous monkey! (smack!) Suzaku: And I suppose you're sooo much greater 'cause you're the better monkey!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ...... or maybe not. |

Wow, I am impressed with ep3.
I love Karen x Lulu's interactions. It's so fun to watch them trying to outsmart each other, although Lulu has the upperhand for now. I am liking Lulu as the main lead. IMO, he seems smarter than Light, at least he acts calmer when something happened unexpected. And the strategies he used seem less contrive than the ones Light uses. I wonder when will CC appear again. It's been 3 episodes, and I think I only heard her talk once. Does anyone know how many episodes this show is going to be? |

I think you'd have to be British to find the following screenshot hilarious...
Spoiler:
The nosey rider behind Millais is wearing formal hunting attire, usually worn during fox-hunting and other such reprehensible pursuits of the landed gentry in Britain. Full marks to the staff for observing British cultural absurdities. |

That and that shot in the OP about Lelouch riding a horse - it just screams 'old-money folk', not 'retro', 'stupid' or whatnot. A large part of the audience won't care past their recognizing the said image. All we need now is seeing the Britannian Parliament convening with people in wigs and robes to complete the big picture. That and a 'Rule, Britannia' song.
