Personally the 2006 F/SN anime was one of the most mediocre anime I've ever watched. It's not the worst, just really mediocre. It's like when watching it, you know there's a huge potential but it just gets bogged down with terrible animation and terrible character interactions (well mostly when Shirou is on screen). Especially after watching Fate/Zero does F/SN become such a weird series to watch.
I'm super glad we're getting a remake. Now no one has to be compelled to watch the 2006 version.

While Fate/Approximation 2006 had some entertaining moments, they were beset by a jumbled script and a distinct lack of animation and art more suitable for a 90s anime. It's certainly no Kanon 0.1 or Unlimited Cash-in Works but yea...
Thus when I said, I wanted to see Fate/Stay Night animated, the 2006 thingy doesn't really qualify as it being animated, beyond mere technicalities. That would be calling a bum wealthy because he technically owns some manner of wealth. Also, the trailer is cleared up at least.

I actually rewatched the 2006 version recently, and yeah, it's lacking in the "animation" aspect, or at least tries too hard to compensate for that with excessive "camera" movement. The earliest episodes kinda gave me a headache with all the panning shots.

The first anime wasn't a master piece in terms of writing and animation but I like it overall. At least is less confusing than the movie, even if that one is a bit easier to watch on some parts. I have no particular appreciation for the VN so the changes in the adaptation don’t bother me as much but I agree the anime loses its grasp while trying to put everything in a single plot line. But overall was not that painful to watch. At least the animation has to be better now.

A friend marathoned the dubbed anime with me once. Aside from a few funny scenes with Rin and Saber ("Well bleeaah to you too") we both agreed the best part was during the end when Rin and Shiro are standing in the road, because my friend got up and pantomined them being run over by a car.

You can't even excuse F/SN by saying it's an old anime so the animation is like that because it aired in the same year with stuff like Haruhi and Ouran which for me had some of the best animation shown in TV. In short of my take which is the same as a lot of people: Did not like F/SN 2006 but am still really excited for the Remake because of F/Z and ufotable.

Is it just me or did the PV convey some serious tones. Is this a possible sign that we're going for HF route, which I hear is darker compared to the other two, or is it just Ufotable trying to sustain the same atmosphere with Fate/Zero regardless of the choice of routes...
When I watched the 2006 version, the Fate route shown there didn't convey this level of serious atmosphere. |

It would be awesome if that happens, but I expect we will get Yuki Kajiura again. Not that Kajiura would be a bad choice, but I miss Kawai distinctive music style and I feel it would be fitting to have him compose for Fate/stay night again after having done the original.
