.hack//GU Trilogy
Trilogy is a 85 minute CG animation being released on DVD and Bluray on March 25th in Japan, and will retell the story of the //G.U. games, with a new level of cinematic detail beyond what can be done in a PS2 game.
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1fBQEU4HeY Thank Knight2 on HongFire for the info. The high-res trailer link is here |

The trailer is pretty awesome, but it is taking a pretty far divergence from the game it seems. Wonder what will ultimately happen in it. Wonder if the error messages that flash by have anything to do with it. Also didn't see Gaspard or Silabus in it, maybe he never runs into them and never starts leading Canard and it stunts his "growing up"? Or it could be infected Atoli stabbing him... Anyway if nothing else it looks like it is an awesome piece of animation, maybe it'll give Advent Children a run in the fight scene department at least.

I fear that it will turn out to be another Advent Children; that is, heavy on the cool factor but light on everything else. Divergence from the original storyline is fine by me, as long as they make it a coherent logical story.
I do like the quick shot in the trailer though of Haseo and Atoli making out. Yeah, I picked her as the card recipient :P |

What especially got me was the trailer that had the scene with:
Spoiler for Trailer Scene:
I'm also very interested in how the Avatar Battles will be carried out. I imagine that it would be extremely fast-paced, comparable to the Spoiler:

I don't really think it can bring the most of the game. Moreover, it's only 80 minutes..?
And not to mention the fight between Skeith and Innis might not exist, replaced by lovey-dovey moments between Haso and Atoli (thoughts based on the trailer). I think they're only giving us emo-eyecandy, like battles, Berserk-Haseo, etc. Since the game is already out, perhaps there wouldn't be many people would protest about the story content though, since maybe they want the looks only too.

BIG NEWS! A new .hack//TRILOGY Trailer has been relesed and from the looks of it they'll try to cover EVERYTHING...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-yB9pub9ycc Also rumor has it they may make a "universal" .hack which includes all the past characters if this one becomes a hit. But I have no evidence besides the rumor to back this up.
