yes, the characters pictures are on the official site for a long time now, and the other three pictures are from the former seasons not the third : Mitsuganae

we don't know (yet) what exactly happens between season 2 and 3 but today has been released the first trailer for Mitsuganae

I think that since in the trailer, we see the two of them in water and that on the promo poster a hand is trying to grab Ai's one, maybe Mikage has saved Ai one way or another...

I doubt Mikage and Ai will be the same person. Mikage could be like Tsugumi only much closer to Ai.

I think they are, since at the end of the trailer Mamiko's voice (Ai) says : "Watashiha anata no naka ni iru" --> "I am in you". And she clearly seems to speak to Mikage when she says that.

Several part of this trailer reminded me of ChobitS, where Freya was living in Chi's subconscious. Here, Ai and Mikage seems to enter in contact by the same way the two sisters did in the Clamp's manga (kissing among other things

).

I just hope, if this assumption is correct, that we will see Ai acting by herselft at one point, and not just by manipulating Mikage ^^.

That would also be a good reason as to why they've converged onto the school that Mikage is in.

If Mikage has parents, maybe they are going to reenact the Ai backstory to awaken Ai.

the "i exist inside of you." makes sense if she is indeed speaking with Mikage. I can somehow picture how the first episodes will begin now.

I'll be watching this new season to the end, even though I wasn't a fan of the 2nd (only good episode imo was the first >_>).

1st season though is on my top anime list.

I see Kukuri is back... I hate that little demon >.>

And what's up with Ai playing with paper planes? lol

The notebook at the end... Uaaaa... Poor teacher... His strictness definitely can be annoying, from the student's ("victims") position, but it was all for the student's good... Sad... And he was only doing what a teacher should do... (though the part at the beginning, where he "wrote down" the names of all three students definitely would be annoying, to a student. Everything else he does was very correct, from telling the parents about their daughter or taking away the music player though... The music player was 200% that girl's fault) Mah, in the end, he only does good things/have good intentions, but gets sent to hell either way... This wasn't the worst depressing end, but this in the first episode... As for the rest... kind of confusing. We get Yamawara, who joins in with the old three and tortures victims, who serves Kikuri? Yet he helped Ai... The official website says he serves Hell Girl, so he works for Ai, but Kikuri is...? It would make sense if Kikuri was Hell Girl, but Ai was the one who appeared. Just looks over Kikuri? And why is Ai back again? After the end in Season 2, I thought she was released from the job and went to hell along with the ones trapped. But she comes back for some reason as a blue butterfly. Then she possesses Yuzuki. And when the string was pulled, she came out of Yuzuki. So from now, will Ai come out of Yuzuki when she needs to? Or was this a one-time thing? Why Yuzuki? Just random choice? And Hone-onna, Ren, and Wanyuudou weren't all that surprised over Ai's return? Eh......? OP's song is decent and fits the visuals and such, but I wish it moves as much as the previous seasons' did. ED is... typical Jigoku Shojo ED song, in a good meaning. Preview: ...Well, continue watching and see if everything can be answered...... The story seems to continue to be typical episodic hell sendings, but revolving around Yuzuki? Depressing story?
