Didn't even understand most of the dialogue and it was still hilarious, especially at the end, by which point I was running out of breath from laughing.

I liked the aesthetic of the park. All solid primary colors, thin poles, straight lines and exact curves. Nothing like any real park I've ever seen but it looked pretty nifty.

Aggressive crazy girl is... aggressively cute. Park was amusing. Didn't know walking up the stairs was so mind boggling. Those rail bikes were rather interesting, especially the way they were ridden. Do you want a girlfriend? Not really.... WTF? Slap him please! LOL, would you greet a middle school girl who you don't know with a slap to the back of the head? Man her backpack is huge. Oh that fight scene was awesome wasn't it but at the same time rather pathetic? The guilty stare down...wow. GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!

I'm actually kind of surprised that Senjogahara is still as ruthless as she was in the first two episodes. I was expecting to her to at least lower her verbal abuse a bit after what happened at the end of ep 2 (I haven't read the novels or w/e the source material is, so I have no idea what I'm getting into).

Then again, if that happened, I don't think this episode would've been as good.

EDIT: Just wondering though, was the scene where Araragi said that he doesn't want a girlfriend as important as it was made out to be? I mean, judging from how this anime is flowing, it seems like...

Ah, Araragi, you silly fool. Get over your awkward shyness and just grab Senjogahara already. You know you want to. Besides, she's almost throwing herself all over you, you lucky bastard.

All in all, an outstanding episode, less epileptic than the previous two, but no less lacking in polish, thanks mostly to the spirited banter between Araragi and Senjogahara. Araragi's confrontation with Hachikuji was pretty hilarious too.

Very much looking forward to the subs now.

Absolutely hilarious and extremely cute. The hilarious part is mostly contributed by Senjougahara. The extremely cute part comes from how she sets it up for her real reason for showing in front of him. In the end where she says she doesn't want to touch anything about him or anything that he has hold, just reiterate the point that she is pouting and took it to heart when the question was posed earlier if Araragi wants a girlfriend. Araragi's reply... well, you can guess what it was from the fact that she is pouting.

Senjougahara isn't as vicious or attacking with her tools, and has discarded some of her blatant bite to those choice-words. That said, however, she still followed a pattern at how she "talked" to Araragi. a] Senjougahara starts a sentence that makes an observation about Araragi in some way b] Araragi spirit is uplifted c] Araragi finds out Senjougahara's sentence wasn't finished completely d] Senjougahara finishes her sentece e] Araragi reacts accordingly as shown below:

In that one instance when Senjougahara finally convinces that she can be of some help to Araragi and if there is anything she can help him with... She does owe him afterall. After much reluctance, Araragi opens up about his sister. They are apparently fighting. Senjougahra observes in a matter of fact manner that if he is a siscon. Araragi flat out refuses with conviction and finality. Senjougahara accepts. Senjougahara assign new terminology which is Sorocon. The terminology is apparently an abbrebirated form from two different words that are combined. A sorocon is the type who has a wife. The wife has sister. The wife dies. He then marries the sister who called him onichan all this time. He still prefers that she calls him "onichan" after their marriage. At one point it was implied that he killed his former wife.

So Senjougahara refers to him as Sorocon. Araragi desperately interjects and pleads to Senjougahara to call him Siscon and resigns in defeat. Senjougahara is after Araragi and she won't be thwarted. As I said, extremely cute.

I so wish my comprehension was bit better. As much as I understood I can tell the fans will absolutely love this episode once they get a chance to understand the dialogue.

I dunno, the way they used it felt more "artsy-stylistic" than the usual way. It felt extremely intentional to me. Bursting with agency. It might have even meant something!

My heart is just brimming with love for Senjougahara <3
An episode of dialogues and conversational teasing would have been boring but she made it so much win. Superb writing and voice acting made it more than just eye candy.

Artistically speaking one of the best episodes from any anime I've seen in a long time. I like how for once I got to see an episode done by Shaft where I don't need to replace my eyeballs when I'm done. They do such nice work but sometimes I think they go over the top. This episode is proof you don't have to have lots of "action" to make for a good episode. The entire thing took place in only one location but it was still good.

As much as I know of this author, Nishio Ishin, his work is dialogue driven which mingles irony and humor seamlessly. He is apparently well recognized too for what he does and has won few awards for his style of work at a very young age. I wonder how these two, Ishin and Shinbou, come to work together because they definitely compliment each other with their respective style.

Senjogahara has certainly leapt up to the top of my list of favourite anime females for now.

She's everything I had hoped characters like Horo (of Spice and Wolf fame) would be: smart and sassy without having to rely on girlish tantrums or coquettish behaviour to draw male attention. To me, a femme fatale with a venomous wit is far more seductive than a girl who insists on playing the hapless female to hook her prey.

Massive kudos to Chiwa Saito for making Senjogahara so memorable. To my surprise, she also played the role of Lavie in Last Exile — from a hot-headed tomboy to a deadly black widow, I like.

Spoiler for Episode 3 (Raw):

It occurred to me that the way this episode was performed greatly resembles a stage play. The highly stylised background and props stand in stark contrast to the character designs, further accentuating the feeling of watching a play within a play.

The set-up also had the effect of focusing the viewers' attention on the witty dialogue, making the whole episode a far more delicious experience (eye candy goes down so much better with meaty humour and naughty innuendo).

Actually, I couldn't help but laugh at that moment — the chibi expression was so appropriate for that particular scene. It's meant to highlight Senjogahara's snide remarks about Araragi being a sis-con (she didn't mean it, but she clearly enjoyed teasing him). In that context, the cartoon caricature works brilliantly.

& yes a lot of dialogue in episode three, so i was able to catch some of it. Focusing on the visuals this episode was a lot of fun, though all the red bars gave me quite a headache.

yeah, those two are just too cute. enjoying the road to when they finally become honest with each other feelings. Senjogahara was sending every possible subtle signal to the guy.

The subbers would no doubt pick it up, but the above is brilliant example of how much would get lost in translation. The visual impact of removing the "knife" [ 刀 ] (penknife) and "cow" [ 牛 ] (er... she's no cow, that's for sure; perhaps represents stubborness? no stubborness = no inhibitions) from the kanji for "crab" to create the kanji for "touch" is oh so clever. You can't achieve the same effect in English, that's for sure.

It's pretty fun combaring this show with Tsukuyomi -MOON Phase- in terms of Kamiya Horishi and Saito Chiwa. I'd say Kouhei and Aragagi are very similar in the way Kamiya portrays them, though Hazuki and Senjougahara are quite different, in many ways.

I still remembered how I got tricked by the title "Hitagi Crab" (ひたぎクラブ) when I first read the novel, because クラブ can be both "Club" and "Crab", I keep expecting Hitagi to invite Koyomi to start a mystery solving club for the whole chapter.

Oh boy, so glad I know at least some Japanese. The entirety of the episode was talking heads but I'd say I managed to pick up at least 80% of it.

Senjougahara's suggestions for what she could do were awesome :P. I'll take her up on her apron offer! But looks like a Senjougahara and Koyomi might hook up too :O... if she was semi serious about what she said in the middle of the episode.

Koyomi's sisters need some screen time, maybe next episode! In any case, I am now anxiously awaiting the next episode!
