Geez, Ayase is really annoying. Men, this is what the problem is with yanderes. Even after explaining everything to her in truth, she still calls Kyosuke a liar just because she hates him. I can still hope that she'll come to understand that what he said wasn't exactly what she thought he meant. The way I see it, Kyosuke didn't say he's in love with his sister. Well, perhaps he did but he didn't mean it in such a way that he seeks something romantic with her. The fact is that it's thanks to those dirty games that he and Kirino came in contact with each other again. In a lot of ways, he's right to say that those games are the bond of their love because it built, or re-built a relationship between them, and it's thankfully not an incest one.

Looking at that one line Kirino said before kicking Kyousuke, it seems to fit with my initial thoughts on how this developed. Both anime and LN seem to suggest that Kyousuke himself didn't like the way their relationship was, the way it was so utterly frigid, but he didn't know how to fix it and didn't want to do something that would blow up on him. At some point he probably did ignore her a little much, which may have started her changing, but the way she changed made it much, much harder for him to do anything for her or stick his neck out for her. This made his level of attention drop even further, which fueled her fires.
If "family" love had come to be cold like that, and the sibling relationship didn't seem to work at all, then in her desire to have a real love between them might have made a part of her long for an entirely different kind of relationship. Mix that with all the pressures and isolation of her overachieving and the insecurities of puberty, and it would be easy for her to grow attached to those sorts of things. One thing for sure is that she's far lonelier than she'd seem, even without the otaku stuff. Being too attractive, or too smart or athletic, can make it hard to find people to really open up to. I mean, even if she didn't have something of this level, everyone sees her as the perfect, beautiful, popular girl who never does anything wrong. That's not an image that will allow deep connections. |

Yandere doesn't fit Ayase, sure Yandere-like, but not straight on Yandere. She was able to distance herself from what she disapproves of and not become psychotically attached. But I think we all agree that she's nuts to a certain degree though
Ahhh... can't wait for the next episode, wanna see some jealous Kirino

It's just that since she's working as a gavure model which is at least somewhat erotic, she ought to have an understanding for other forms of erotic entertainment. Being actively involved in the creation of mildly erotic material on the one hand side, but condemning other erotic material on the other hand side, makes her quite an hypocrite. Quote:

I literally burst out laughing during the scene in the rain in the beginning. It was so over the top I assumed someone was thinking the whole thing, but it turned out to be real, ridiculous. Ayase seems kind of insane, not the kind of character I predicted her to be.
Was of the episode was okay, I hope they go back to the whole "you've left me alone all this time" thing that Kirino blurted out. That is godlike as always.

The beginning of this episode with the over-dramatic rain and talk by Ayase makes me think that maybe it was a parody of sorts. I mean, School Days (as did other anime and games) made a cameo appearance
Although Ayase did come off a bit stubborn, I still think she's not as annoying as some make her out to be. Kirino on the other hand seems to be progressing well after the first 4 episodes, loving her development so far I've seen a lot of people taking Kirino's behavior just a little too seriously here, it should be taken as comedy for the most part (I.e. - Aside from the revelation that Kyousuke has been ignoring her for the majority of her life.) I can't wait to see more Kyousuke x Kirino development myself Although the whole cast is pretty fun, I'm definitely enjoying this series.

a few things that makes me want to facepalm whenever I read other people's discussion (this board seem to be more intelligent though). A few points had been covered, but there are just some that I want to confirm here. Correct me if I see things wrongly:
1. Kirino "ditching" her otaku friends. The way I see it it's just superficial lie said to Ayase, in order to maintain her image. I don't get how some people kept thinking that she's totally ignoring kuroneko and saori. They both know that Kirino tend to want to hide her hobby from other friends. 2. Ayase flips too quickly When idolisation goes into the extreme it can bring devastated consequences when your idol contain traits which you despise. She's not that dumb not to notice the crowd near the Big Site, the suspicion would had been building up during the conversation as well. 3. Ayase breaking up with Kirino just because of the hobby Continue on with the idolisation mentality, I see it more as her using their friendship as the wager in order to convince Kirino to return to the perfect image Ayase had in mind. As shown later in the episode, Ayase still values their friendship over the petty detail. 4. The sudden "acceptance" of Kirino's hobby from Ayase One of the ways to stop a fight is step in and be the common enemy. From Ayase's point of view, which outcome is worse: step away and let the perverted sis-con taint her idol, or keep in close contact and be Kirino's bodyguard? The choice is an obvious one from my perspective. It's not willing to accept the hobby, but more of the tactic of using the friendship as wager is crumbling due to the new development. There are better ways to still convince her without breaking up. which brings me to the last point which I'm still confused 5. the "lying" big brother in the title Just what was she referring to in that word? The gentle friendly older brother or the perverted sis-con? The general consensus seem to be the later, that she sees right through the lies. However I think the possibility that the first option can be true is still good. Ayase knew nothing about Kyousuke other than what Kirino told her so far, "disgusting" and various other derogatory descriptions. It's easy to take those words with a grain of salt, however it's easier to use the "annoying big brother" as the scapegoat for Kirino's odd behaviour than to accept that Kirino is not what she thought she is. Even if Kyousuke's "confession" is so outrageous, since she knew nothing about him it's still possible from her perspective that those might be true. sorry for the long post, just want to clear up some common controversial points in this episode.

Sure she didn't mean it, and it was uttered in panic, but that doesn't change the fact it was insensitive of her to say it within their earshot. As understanding as Saori and Kuroneko were of the situation, her comments probably hurt all the same. I can overlook her abuse of Kyousuke (), but I really hope she makes amends for that comment in the future. Quote:
Yeah, I think you've said it all - Ayase calls him a liar because after thinking it over she realised his declaration of 'we collect the porn because they're a symbol of our forbidden love' was probably not true (judging by Kirino's protestations, maybe?). However, she still blames him for turning Kirino to anime/porn and will be keeping watch in case it ever turns real (wincest ) |
