Yeah, I suppose the fact she's trying to be strong despite everything might impress him. It's just so weird. I guess I figured he might be the one guy in this show who was actually not that great a person.

"Mwahahaha *said something* Mwahahaha!" It's a bit ambiguous what he was laughing about but he certainly was laughing around. Mwahaha. And stuff. Maybe he thought it was ironic; maybe he was laughing alongside a sizable part of the fanbase (lol pwnage! epic twist!); maybe it was another step towards the success of his mysterious plan, fighting the gods or something; maybe he wanted the prodigal son to be like him, cold-hearted bastard and all, and killing his first love sounded like as good a step as any; or maybe he thought tens of thousands of dead Japanese was utterly freaking funny, who knows. |

Yeah while the Emperor practices an "evil" style of beliefs and lifestyle he's yet to resort to baby eating supervilliany like some other Britannian's (cheerfully destroying ghettos, enslaving the Japanese, making Japanese brothers fight each other etc)

Diethardt was literally laughing inside and filled with joy because he knew this was one of the possible scenarios Lelouch would come out of it. "This is beautiful, I didn't think you'd have the guts to pull this off Zero but this is better than expected." The Emperor yelled, "He did it! He actually DID IT!" It was never about the massacre, it was about whether or not he would actually fall to such a low ball move and that's what he was laughing about. |

There is a difference:
Suzaku thinks that whatever he does is justice. Lelouch, even back in season 1, understand that he need to destroy everything to rebuild – that is, he need to be evil. In season 2, he reaffirm that he will become evil to fight evil, even if evil will still remain. The difference is that Suzaku is a hypocrat, and Lelouch is just a magnificant bastard. |

Easier said than done. I can guarantee you will prefer a honest bastard to a dishonest hypocrite, because at least the bastard is honest.
As an example, currently Lulu just forced Suzaku to follow his own words about "Changing Japan on the inside". Suzaku was going to object to Nunnally setting up a special zone, because he is the Emperor's Servant and must do what the Emperor wants. Nunnally shut him up by saying this is what Euphie wanted. Now, Suzaku WANT to object. He said it himself in the DVD extras, that he doesn't really care about Euphie's special zone. But because he pretend that he does, Suzaku is forced to keep quiet. Suzaku knows that if Zero get involved, the Special Zone might actually WORK. This will eventually force the Empire to demand that it be shut down, and he would have to kill Nunnally as a KotR. The point about a hypocrite is that he will not admit to his hypocrisy until the very last minute. He will resist revealing his true nature until there is no choice, before going full blown insane and kill everyone.

I still say there's plenty of time. Just continue to see the show. I think Suzaku will be ruthless enough to reach his goals, and clear-minded enough to know who he's deceiving. A self-conscious hypocrite who isn't afraid to use it: kudos to him, if he is one.

Lulu has now called Suzaku's bluff, by starting to do what Suzaku claim he was doing. The true self of Suzaku will win eventually, which means I can say with 50/50 odds that he would try to kill Nunnally at some stage. "I have to do it! I have no choice!" Sound familiar to anyone? Japan will be free over Suzaku's dead body.

Well, I've heard it said that the directors/storywritters did say that he'd do something this season that'd make him want to kill himself; perhaps this would be it then. Ah well, if he do - or even try to - really kill her, then the shit has truly hit the fan and Suzaku'll no longer be able to deny his true desire...

Suzaku can't openly oppose the Special Zone. Because that would be admitting hypocrisy. At least, not yet. He just need the Emperor's orders before he could justify putting a bullet in Nunnally's skull.
