Hmmm with the op it seems that the hero is the evil demon . I though it was Arthur . I like more this character than the guy with white hair . I'll watch the 2nd episode and see if i'll keep or not .

(I agree too for Shina Dark , i want this manga animated !! )

I've been seeing conflicting reports about the length of this series. Some say it's 11 while others say 25 or 26. Does anyone know for sure and have a credible source to back it up?

I'm watching the 2nd epis in TV too. The audio I get is getting better, but the subtitles makes we want to facepalm.

Well he is similar in such a way, that both of them aren't very keen on creating strategic plans, or tactical decievings on own initiative, and they are more in a support of the honest old-fashioned brute force regarding everything. Plus I've personally found both of them irritating in the first half of the games

Ep.2 follows the PS3 version pretty faithfully, there are only a couple of small changes I can't discuss though. The preview seems to follow what happens in the game too, almost.

Episode 2 out, so far:

Designs are actually a change for worse, at least if you want to stay true to what they were suppose to be about - age of the Roman empire. Silliness like changing Gaius' sword from classic roman short sword to unwieldy two-hander and him losing the legionnaire haircut, Ogam looking like some sort of a old chemically enhanced body builder (ugh). Arawn actually slicing stuff apart with his new-looking sword and his just-tailored looking clothes that spent a thousand years in the grave (in the game it was clearly stated that they were all falling apart from age when he was resurrected).

Goes in line with that tasteless hat Rhiannon is wearing. As if they applied a mix of FF7 gloss and disney cuteness on top of TtT.

It's gone from clear attempt of making Roman empire-like world in the game to generic fantasy.
Well, it's going to go well with the target audience I suppose. Which is definitely not over 18.

The humor is largely castrated, but that was to be expected it being rather adult kind of humor in the first place.

The latter joke was actually hilarious in the game, and set the theme for Gael tribe quite well, for being a BCr gaelic tribe. In anime, it feels more like a generic fantasy world instead, which loses quite a bit of it's appeal.

Event order also appears somewhat strange, but that's going to be attributed to episodic nature of the anime. Still, utawarerumono was done better in this regard.

Overall, when compared to uwarerumono game > anime conversion, this one appears to be a whole lot more sloppy, which is quite unfortunate seeing the potential.

We'll see how it goes I guess.

Well I have mixed feelings about ep2.

Spoiler for Flame-warriors please ignore the spoiler:

The undeads and the flow of the battle are very well done in a semi-3d style, and the fights, movements are looking promising (I'd like to see the siege with the same quality for example). It's a shame the atmosphere here in that battle wasn't so good, mostly due to I felt the music lacking.
The character designs aren't my taste.
Rhiannon with her silly hat, and how she keeps talking in the middle fight to distract his brother. For crying out loud Rhiannon, he shouldn't be distracted at all, he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer

. I'd wanted to see her to cast heals or something but she was just babbling around uselessly.
Well it's probably going to be similiar to Uta's heroine Eruruw who just like Rhia, haven't done any fighting/magic in the anime, despite both of them being incredible useful and indispensable in the games, so I was hoping they gonna involve Rhia with a more active role.

By the way is/was it just me who dislikes the way she says Araaaaaaauuuuuuuwn-sama all the time? It wouldn't be so bad itself, but she repeats the name every 2-3 sentence... I've turned off her voice in the game after a while, but when I heard it now, I had to remember. It's not like it's important or anything, but I feel like she intently mispronounce it to tease the player/viewer.

I felt disappointed Ogam was fighting barehanded and didn't showed us some magic. I mean he was supposed to be weakest of all characters, but he fights hand-to-hand on the same level as Arawn or Arthur here. At least they beefed his phisical appearance toward that way, but I don't really see the point of doing that, and ignore his spellcasting abilities. What was he doing there in the dark anyway? I seem to remember he was helping the summoning originally, but he was hiding in the dark here now.

Probably the biggest change Gaius went through. I hardly recognized him at all with his heavy 2hander. Well as you guys mentioned I don't see any Roman empire resemblence so far, neither in him, neither in his subordinates. It's early to judge them though.

None of these things are fundamental to enjoy the show, but I feel like my expectations might have been too high. I'd rate it as a 7 out of 10.

Either way, even as a gag, it felt like the story was trying forcibly to turn 180 degrees and into another direction. Because the episode after that part, was actually decently interesting/amusing, with Nii-chan having to watch his sister fall for the great and not-so-evil new guy. Poor Oboro. Since I still haven't remembered your name, you can be Oboro for the rest of this post. And so, Oboro rallies everyone and a-way we go~ Overall, the development itself kind of felt... (-_-), but the second half of the episode was a slight improvement. It seems that the story from this part out will start getting better, so I guess I'll see about it... Still... Spoiler: Pointless burning of village buildings with no real explanation as for the real reasons in ep2 was just silly for example. Why they didn't do the scene where Arthur burned the buildings before going after his sister to make sure his tribe didn't have anything to come back to (and as a result, go all out after the priest) when they stretched episode one into eternity anyway is beoynd me. The way it was done in the game made sense. In anime, not so much. They're following the PS3 version more or less accurately for now.
