[Gundam 00] 4th gundam missing?

^Well yeh that much is obvious red also completes the sentai colour scheme of the gundams: blue, black, orange (yellow) and green. I suppose pink is another possibility

About the No.4, reason why they dont use it becoz No.4 stands for "death" in japanese. So they usually will try or will avoid using the No.4 .

If u go to a japanese hospital, its the same.... ull find room No.1, 2, 3 n they will skip No.4 n move on to 5.

Not just public places, they also try not to give gifts in a quantities of 4.

I don't know about that.

Boot a Knoppix varient on a USB key instead of the onboard OS. Or hack it so it thinks they have an acceptable retina print. Or spoof the sensors. Or add a signal logger between the computer and the retina scan and wait till after the next sortie to steal it by replaying the pilots biometrics. Or be someone cleared to fly it [The Kou Uraki method of Gundamjacking ]

The Retina scan is secure so long as you don't have time to render the MS's computer insecure. It's slightly more secure than a car key.

Or they just canceled out the 4th? Like it has some defection and can't use/fix, so they have to stop the production.
I agree with -Wraith-, the Ptolemaios only has 4 container, so maybe there is original only 4 Gundam, and why no the 4th? 4 is death number in Japanese, and Celestial Being stand for the angel/god/whatever, so the 4 isn't accepted?

The Qubeley from Zeta Gundam was designated as AMX-004. Why didn't they censor that then?

There's gotta be more to it than just a cultural block. I would see that they'd have more of a reason to block the Qubeley's AMX-004 designation back then than they would now.

After reading the 00F manga and 00P photonovel, I came up with this theory:
In the photonovel, they said that the GN-000 O Gundam is the first generation of GN machines, GNY models (the prototypes of the GN models, the GNY-004 Plutone is included in this generation) are the Second Genaration and the GN Models (The 4 Gundams in the anime) are the 3rd Generation.

And in the manga, When Fon Spark insisted on using the GNY-004 Plutone instead of a mass produced GNY-001 Astrea, Chall Acoustica reacted. Probably because the machine has an unstable feature or there's something else. CB probably ceased the production of the GN-004 because of that reason.

So far, each of the gundams seem to specialize in a particular area...
Exia, specializes in Melee
Dynamas, specialises in Sniping
Kyrios, specializes in hit and run attacks
Virtue, specializes in high powered, heavy artillery

GN-004 probably has a specialty itself
my intial guesses would be
-A suit the speicalizes in well balanced combat... the classic, sword, shield and rifle combo
-a stealth suit... light weapons but capable of cloaking to avoid being seen

I haven't read the mangas but i have been looking up info on the gundams from the manga... from the manga's their is a prototype for both Exia (GNY-001) and Dynamas(GNY-002) and a prototype GNY-004... considering how the prototypes for both Exia and Dynamas have numbers that match the current generation verions, GNY-004 is most likely the prototype for whatever would become the GN-004
I'd also wager to guess that Virtue and Kyros also had prototypes with matching numbers

to keep themselves organized they would want the third generation of suits to have matching numbers with their prototypes... so even if they didn't build GN-004, Virtue would still be named GN-005 instead of being advanced to 004.

though the question remains... did the ever build GN-004 or did they scrap it during the prototype generation? it's very possible that they did build it, but have yet to find a suitable pilot for it... or perhaps that it's specialties lie somewhere other than the frontlines

this makes me think that GN-004, if it was indeed built, is either a high perfromance suit that puts an extremely high amount of stress on the pilot to the point where there is no one capable of handling the suit... or a suit the employs something like a Dragoon System, in that the system is actual to complexed for anyone to control and they have yet to develop and AI to compesate for the pilot's inability to control the weapons.

right now, i'm kinda thining that Exia is eventually gonna get destroyed somewhere down the line, and after that he's gonna end up getting his hands on GN-004 and come back stronger than ever, in the same fashion as a number of gundam heroes before him.

either that, or somebody in CB will turn out to be the real anagonist and he will be the one to use GN-004... i really doubt anyone outside of CB will be getting their hands on GN-004... maybe one of the ohter 4, but not the unseen one

I would assume it might have been one of the 3 other gundams talked about in 00F, for each of the gundams has ability to conceal its identity. When you exclude Astrea and Plutone, that would make sense or if there is a random prototype as well not mention so far.

Could have been that the 04 was destroyed. Could just have avoided it because of the meaning of '4'. Maybe there's to be another mobile suit?
I think the best thing to do in this case would be to wait, and find out. ^_^

That means the one protoype may be one for kyrios or virtue. Another way it could happen is if the prototypes for them are not shown now but later on.

I doubt Plutone is the prototype for either Kyrios or Virtue... look at the numbering. GNY-00X prototypes for Exia and Dynamas have number that match up with their third generation counter parts... Kyrios and Virtue more than likely do have prototypes aswell and they are proabbly numbered GNY-003 and GNY-005 respectivly... In order to keep organized it's best to make sure the numbers reamin consitant through out the generations

If Plutone was the prototype for Vitue or Kyrios, then Virtue of Kyrios would carry the number GN-004... really, there's no reason to skip over 004
