Ordered the K-On Puchi set which is the 11+1 set that comes out at Christmas as another christmas present for myself.

I got a note through my door when I was back from shopping about missing a package, it matches my BRS reference number which only dispatched last week for SAL! I missed out on Customs charges, but Persona 3 PSP also showed up too which was dispatched from SAL like 3 weeks ago, ah well not complaining. Need to head out to the post office and get my BRS figma later. ^_^

Sal delivery times can be quite weird. My quickest was 1.5 wks, my slowest 3 wks (And the 1.5 wk one was in transit late Dec/early Jan, Christmas season lol).

Here she is!

Saber Lily ~ Golden Caliburn ~ in all her sexy glory.

She even looks like the image on the back! I'm very pleased with the quality of this figure.

Oh, Distant Avalon says she won't be out classed!

Oh and here's my Jun Watarase figure too that I got a few weeks ago now.

Jun on top, just the way he/she likes it!

Just hanging out to get a good display cabinet before I even dare take those Saber figures out of their boxes. I will admit I love the original Distant Avalon more than the Golden Caliburn version but they will compliment each other nicely next to one another.

Do the official model promo pics use these markers? The lines they make seem a lot fainter than what you see in those promo pics.

I'm so bad at posing figmas, so my BRS looks relatively generic, I'll get around to posing her properly eventually, but got loads of pictures of the common pose, I'll post them later, well some of them.

EDIT: I only actually managed to get one semi decent photo with my iPhone camera, so here you go!

I didn't even really get into anime for the first time until I was about 17, then because I wasn't really into watching it at the time I just forgot to continue to watch it, then I started watching it again this year at the age of 19 (now 20). I think the only reason I'm so into it is for the language and the fact I like such a broad range I seemingly watch most of the airing series as they air so there's always something new.

Getting my first scaled figure was hard, too. I had to keep measuring what the site said her height was to reassure myself it was worth it.

But then again, my first Japanese figures were two Nendoroids, bought at a local shop. I think that it's best to get your first taste by buying something in person. For me, it makes the memory a lot better ("My first figure, I bought it at a toy shop" vs "My first figure, I bought it sitting in front of my computer". I love going places, and going to that shop was a new experience, makes the memory so much more memorable). Another pro to going to a store is to see what the figures look like in real person. When I first walked in that shop, I was (at first) unpleasantly surprised that these expensive figures were so much smaller than I thought $80 could get you ("my Barbies never cost that much! and the Barbies are bigger!" I thought ). I got over this feeling and now love the painstaking detail that goes into my Japanese figures; perhaps seeing one in person will change your mind in one direction or the other.

If you can, try going to a nearby store that sells Japanese figures. Take a look at them, look at the boxes, see what you can of the plastic beauty herself through the box window. Do you like what you see?

Same for me too, thats why I let a local anime-store handle most of my orders (although I could do it myself) and whenever I go to pick them up I can also browse through all their stock

There are times like that, when you need a break. I haven't watched a single anime episode in over three weeks, and don't feel like buying new figures either - that's why I got mangas and magazines this month. You'll come around, don't worry about that

To be honest I'm just scared, scared from the society and feeling I'm watching Anime and spending a big amount a money of it just to escape stuff, though I love it, but I get the feeling I'm getting far from it and I should invest the money in my life instead of figurines, it seems a bit dumb approaching a girl and when she comes over she sees 3 Anime figurines and posters almost all over the room same with friends, I'm already 18 and this is considered a "legal" age (legal to drink etc) and I'm disturbed by this whole situation.

Regarding the figurines, there is no shop in Israel that sells them, or at least have them in normal variety (most are like 3-4 and are from some stuff like FF etc...)
Anyhow, I'm very very confused and disturbed by this situation and I don't know what to do, I like the figurines very much, it's just hard for me right now to invest this kind of money into them and not financially but mentally, and I've wanted these 3 figures a very long time...

For some reason it all lost it's appeal to me overnight, having health issues and some other stuff made me think a bit different.
Anyhow, I don't know what to do ;(

If it's just buds or girls you're bringing in, just stashing the anime goods should do, but if the relationships get serious, they'll have to know. Even if they are confused by your interests, it's not like you keep loaded guns on the walls or worship Barney; they can't really judge you when they don't know well what being an anime fan can mean.

That is some good point, I knew I could count on people in this thread
Now, help me get my motivation for the figures again! I want them but with time they lost the appeal a bit!

DO IT YES WOMAN!

Sankyu!

Nowdays anime and figure-collecting is more accepted than it was let's say five years ago. And believe me, having three quality figures displayed in any room (even if it's the living room) won't get you in serious trouble with anyone. On the contrary they will only add to overall image of that room - some have a wooden ship on the top shelf of their bookcases, you'll have anime figures instead. It's nearly the same thing, only much more interesting - unless it's a really perverted hentai figure, of course

As for the posters and other anime-stuff, displaying those for everyone to see might not be a good idea. I have over 200 figures by now, tons of posters cover my walls and now even dakimakuras are hanging on the curtains. A true "otaku terror room" I believe, which is certainly not for everyone to see! Most of my friends are into anime and since I started figure-collecting I made many more who share the same interest as I do. So when they come over, they love to sit in the "terror room" and browse through everything they haven't seen before. Even those, who don't collect anything but love anime nontheless.
As for my other friends, who don't like anime, I simply don't invite them into that certain room and have them sit down in the living room instead.

But like I said, you don't have to worry. Three figures won't freak out anyone. If you're planning on collecting many more though, and you know that your friends don't like anime, it might be a good idea to have a seperate room set up for them

Oh, and although I currently don't have a girlfriend, but all of my Friends In Anime who do, the girl (or the guy) is usually into anime as well

Logical to me, thank you again, I'll only have some problem to find a girl which I'll like that is into Anime as well, rare kind and especially in my age and where I live.
I believe I'll collect about 5-6 figurines max, I want Alter Ritsu as the 4th and Alter Mari (In case there will be one) as the 5th and that's it I think.

I just want to get excited about the figurines again cause I'm spending almost 250 including shipping on 3 figures and I wanted some other stuff, I need some motivation :P

Finding the right girl is always tough, but it's worth it

Like I said, most people would only have a silly ship, a clock or any other common object on their shelves.

YOU on the other hand will have some expensive and extremely rare figurinnes to show off to everyone

And when it comes to value, at least they are worthwhile investments as well. When you buy a device, sooner or later it breaks down and you can throw it out; DVDs and BluRays will become obsolete and won't worth anything, etc.
Quality figures will retain their price and over time they will become even more valuable. For example, Alter's Revy figure was released for ~50USD, now it goes buy 300USD on ebay

You can also take up fishing
or become a football hooligan

...just to escape 'stuff'

That's a matter of priorities
hobbies take second place over food, shelter, job, school and socialising
after that, who cares?

F*** 'em
If today one can accept someone for enjoying SM orgies, what is the problem of collecting comics/cartoons/figures?
