Well I've fought and now have reached October 4, 1986. Here are my notes

Spoiler for Ep5 Spoilers:

This section is the events just prior to October, the metaworld scenes, and just before October 4, 1986 starts.

Just before October 1986 (?)
- Ganji, Kanon and Shannon discuss the council and the plans regarding Kinzo. They'll go with Kinzo refusing to leave his study.
- They say that only they can enter the room of Kinzo (?) and that they have to try their best to hide this truth.
- They say that even though Kinzo is dead, they will continue serving him and the new head (?). They rehearse their lines.
- Scene changes to the relatives, who apparently now know that Kinzo is dead by some information (?)
- They talk about how historical figures also hid deaths. Hideyoshi has had suspicions since the council last year.
- They begin to think of a conspiracy by Krauss to take all the inheritance for himself.
- Scene to Rudolph on the roof of some building lost in thought. He and Kyrie talk about borrowing money from Krauss and his own successes (failures?)
- Kyrie apparently plots something. She suggest the blackmail plan to Rudolph. He is shocked. He still harbors his fears of his elder brother.
- Kyrie pushes him to do it due to their own monetary problems.
- Scene to Rosa talking to Krauss on the phone. He's apparently pushing her to join with them and force the issue on Krauss (?)
- He says that they must stand united to force Krauss to abide by them. He mentions the 200 million they all need. They all have debt and maybe they can get more from him.
- He says the three of them should meet in Ginza at their favorite coffee shop to talk about the details.
- Putting down the phone she wonders if she should go along, but then again she has debts to clear, and this rumored gold could solve it.
- She realizes that this day is when she and Maria are supposed to go to an amusement park but it can't be helped.
- She notices Maria's room is messy and would use this as an excuse to go batshit on her and cancel the trip it seems.
- Scene change to Rokkenjima. Natsuhi listens to the news that says there will be a storm during the council meeting. She has a headache and apparently there is a chance the council meeting will be a a mess.
- The telephone rings and she answers. It Genji saying she has an outside line call. A young man is on the line it seems and Natsuhi questions the purpose of this call (?)
- She is indignant that this person does not introduce himself. She thinks it may be some business related to their financial troubles (?)
- She drops the phone but it rings again. The man says "it's been a long time, I wonder how many years?" (?)
- Natsuhi is clearly annoyed and demands to know who is on the line. The man talks some weird had to understand crap. The man says he hopes Natushi would recall something, but she does not recall.
- He says "I might be your child" (Holy mother of WTF)
- She is shocked and denies it. She snaps at the person on the line.
- The man says he comes back for revenge for her crime 19 years ago. He will come to the conference on that day and extract his revenge on her.
- She slams down the phone as she panics.

MetaWorld

- Bern calls out to Lambda. They talk some gibberish about pickles and kitchens and shit.
- Bern asks if the phone conversation is true, Lambda refuses to answer.
- Some stuff about blue text and some such, that Lambda is the master of the board and can decide what she wasnt to say (?)
- Bern says she's using weak cheats (?) and that preparations for the actual start should be done (?).
- Bern bonks Lambda's head, who says preparations are complete.
- October 4, 1986 will now begin.

That's it from me for today. My brain is too fried retranslating everything so I'll hope to finish Ep5 by Thursdat since I have Wednesday and Thursday off.

Virgilia continues, saying Beato's purpose is not to inspire fear or for pleasure. She obtains nothing from the murders, and loses nothing from not completing them because of the epitaph. Her play is that of a capricious child.

Cut to Beato. Battler says that's wrong. It has some reason, to Beato. He wonders what the meaning is, though. He says she doesn't know, and continues, saying something along the lines of it definitely not being without reason even if it seems meaningless. It isn't a meaningless question(?). It is absolutely significant. She approached him in the last game, asking him to recall a sin from six years ago. Was that also meaningless?

That's wrong. That is absolutely not the case. He remembers how serious Beato looked then. To both of their regret, he did not know what she was talking about. Beato was cruelly disappointed. Their is a reason for that. She asserted that if he had not come, the event would not have happened(?).

He says aloud, that is certainly the meaning/reason. The reason that drives her. And it was requested from him. Beato's eyes widen some, but she says nothing. I think he laughs and pats her head? Then this line, which I can't make out.



Translator puts it as : .."�c�c.. ..the recommendation of the thing written, "I love you" short from the following to the love letter...

Then something about being roundabout. Virgilia giggles. He says something about what she's thinking. Though...he still doesn't know enough? The chessboard is not turned over yet. He's depressed about his failure to travel her mind(?).

Looking at the line and what you think it means it might have something to do with his test from EP 4. He didn't have anyone he loved and when Beatrice (Suit-Beato) asked him about it he just said he loved her, as a joke to try and kill her off.

- Epic fight between the inquisitors and Beatrice, the witch's side was owned completely but Battler saved the day. Then an awesome swordfight between Battler and Knox. Battler was the winner and I think that she fell in love with him
- I have to say that Knox is cute. And it's rare to see a witch hunter drinking tea with a witch

So I assume that he wants to tell Beato that she should be more straight about what she wants ( I really want to interpret it in a more "fangirl" way though )
But it really gets more and more confusing indeed.

OK I've just readthe Episode with Atlas + Agth (I've already have practice so I understnad it pretty well) And I starteed laughing when a scene appear and I thought Ryuukishi was kind 'in your face with these scenes

I mean, there are almost no scenes were Shannon and Kanon aren't together, it's like ''I don't even need to use red text for this thing''. They just don't appear in front of Battler(unreliable narrator), but also in front of Erika, and she even speaks to them both with ''Shanon and Kanon close the door.

Furudo Erika and Bernkastel, a pair of bitches. In the prologue I liked her new sprites, they were funny, but in the end she was a bitch. Erika was cool at first, with her song too, I liked it, but I can't understand why Bernkastel made her witch of the Truth, since she was wrong with her guess. I also didn't like Cornelia and Gertrude, but i kinda liked Dranol.a.Knox and the whole Knox rules and their fights were cool

The episode was just awesome, my opinions

Well, this episode was even better than episode 3, hair down Beato and her Ura tea party scene was just EPIC (this increases my only anti-mistery hopes BatoxBea). Ok, now I hate Bern even more, she just want to win, even if she's wrong, Lambdadelta was better since she wants Bern tgo be there and therefore listened to Battler.

The new furniture was OK and I still don't know how the mureders happen (Maybe Battler was right, butr still, it was justbrain-wrecking. And they found the gold but didn't tell where it was, but instead they gave more clues.

The music was just WIN. I like myustic songs with organ and the new version of my favourite song was really good. Erika's song was perfect for her

Actually, what IS interesting with Bern is the fact how she acted here:
it is absolutely abnormal for her to prosecute like this, knowing that she herself should know a chunk of the truth with the red, and the fact she tends to crush her enemies in order to win.
Therefore, breaking the Anti Mystery side with Knox Commandements is kinda an half baked attempt to prevent the truth to be found (regardless if it is Fantasy or Mystery), despite she most likely know that Natsuhi wasn't the culprit (if a piece like Virgilia knows about that, so should the Gamemasters and the players).
What's more is how Erika is actually using Battler's very first stance, ignoring the truth but just claiming a circumstancial one.

As result, I wouldn't be surprised if Bern is just acting. As much as she is definitely on a "antagonist light", she is arguably nowhere close to a true villain, considering her objective is nowhere impending Battler's.
I personally don't mind much if she remains like this or if she is actually playacting, but the possibility for the latter does exist, even more so considering she isn't acting in an optimum way.

Her objective as stated in the first Ura Tea Party is to beat the Endless Witch, not to find the truth. When the game first started, she and Battler were aligned by mutual enmity, but, personally, I wouldn't assume that's the case any more.

I was thinking Bern threw Erika/Knox in to end the game quickly so she could gtfo.

She probably thought that everything would be fine and dandy with Battler if she let his family get off the island unscathed and if the "truth" of the murders was found. Or maybe this was all just some act to rile Battler up... who knows?

The thing is that, said objective of "beating Beatrice" doesn't necessary have any problem with Battler objective in finding the truth and denying the witches.
The real problem between the two is how, in the end, the means are totally different which don't go well with each other.
If Battler was really focalised on finding the culprit, the whole deal with Beato wouldn't affect him that much, and him turning into a GM proves he finally understood his true objective, beneath "prove the witches didn't do it" => "find the real truth", which should naturally prove the witches didn't do it.

Bern wouldn't clash with Battler if she was on her objective without much screwy strategy, her means and plans just go unethical at some point, ever since Episode 4.
If we strip their methods, they "should" be natural allies, but of course now it is a total different story (but I still think they aren't "enemies" to the first degree).

The main reason why I think Bern "might" (it is still a 50/50 chance) be playacting is the fact that Bern didn't use all ressource to end the game. As soon as the game begins to drag, it is a bore for her and unlike lambda, she isn't fancying the idea of an endless rondo.
Thus, the main issue I have with her strategy in Episode 5 is that she doesn't give Battler the tools to end the game quickly. Also, she doesn't even terminate Battler: Battler is her piece, so she "should" be able to discard him even before he became a GM. Thus, the fact she left him roaming was absolutely a fool play, similar to Beatrice's whimsical habits, which is not Bern's style.

On the other hand, Lambda is preparing a huge personal agenda, considering that she is nowhere close to act as usual, but she is by no means "nicer".
She is the driving factor for the "endless" torture for most players and pieces so heh.

Regarding Furudo Erika, I think her small faults overshadows her deductive power... at least before tea party. It's true that she has a bad personality, and have a lust for solving mysteries without respecting others, but her deductions are also almost flawless.

I'll leave the analysis out tho, since it's spoiler-ish.

Oy, my Japanese reading skills are even slower/worse than I thought they were ><. I've been reading approximately 5 hours and I'm only to Natsuhi's conversation right before the 1986 family conference.

But my word Krauss is freaking psycho. Space travel resort island WHAT? Also if he really believes all that bull about women needing to submit to their husbands then he's doing a really awful job raising his daughter .

Doll-Beato is so adorable/sad too...although I'm more of a Jessikano supporter I did squee a bit when Battler was lifting up her tea and helping her drink it :3. They're quite the cute pairing so far in this episode, and it looks like Bern and Lambda are starting to become the trolls for them.

Also, speaking of Jessikano...DAMMIT NOOOOO! What kind of first twilight is that? (at least we'll finally get to see how Kanon reacts when she dies but STILL :/) A first twilight death also smashes my theory that Jessica, George, and Maria are only killed when it's convenient or they're "in the way".

Urgh I need to keep reading...
