The one in the OP does look significantly different, I didn't even realize how much so until I decided to pause and take a closer look at it, the arm seems alot thicker and well armored, and the general design seems to have improved all around.

Can't wait to see it in action.

He died during an operation, that's all we know. Besides, they moved the episodes detailing her to R2. Her father should show up at some point and he must be important considering that his position was said to be a secret.

Might further explain why she's crying if she ends up having to fight against her father. That'd be an interesting, all be it complicated/ing, plot twist.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was a pilot though I wonder how important his position is. It'd be funny if he was a Knight of Rounds, but I doubt that actually.

He had a wife and kid in that picture of his right before he blew up as well, I think they might have already died during the war which was why he was smiling in the end

I honestly don't care about Kallen since she was never that interesting to begin with. The fact that they took her story out of season 1 pretty much made her annoying and useless.

And they probably have her flagged. Or she doesn't know.

I'm starting to think Kallen has been Cagalli'd, but hopefully future episodes will prove me wrong.

as for naoto here's my questions about his death.

since he was son of high noble wouldn't someone notice that he's dead?
was it ever public(or government) knowledge that he was terrorist?
if not how did Kallen explain his disappearence? did she at all?
if so why has no one suspected Kallen of being a terrorist?
how did he die?

Probably not. Their memories should have been altered with respect to the thing about Nunnally. "Kallen is a terrorist" is not related to "Nunnally is Lelouch's sister", and the Emperor likely wouldn't know or care about Kallen anyway.

I think that unlike Kallen, Naoto wasn't accepted into the family and was a full-time resistance fighter, so its unlikely anyone actually knew of him besides Kallen and their mother.

Don't know, the JLF had heard about him and his group though so I assume he was known in his circles since he was the leader of his cell after all.

I don't think she needed too honestly, nothing suggests he ever lived with her in the mansion, and he was around Ougi's age so he was already an adult be then anyway.

She hides it well with her sick act and her step-mother doesn't bother to find out where she disappears off too even though she knows Kallen goes into the ghettos. Her father is hardly at home as well.

Apparently he died during an intelligence gathering mission that would later involve capturing the 'gas capsule', at least if I recall the interview clips correctly.

It hasn't been made clear what exactly Kallen's father's position is, though I would expect it to be a good one.
