It's been almost confirmed that they aren't, no.

that's why it was the dream of an idiot

It was just a good thing she's being "angelic" or she'd probably be feasting on his entrails.

No, earlier in the episode, when she's first explaining her angelic behavior.

Granted the whole scene was uncharacteristic of her... but that one line was especially odd.

Ah, I thought you meant Haruta's dream sequence.

Yeah, her remarks about being willing to take off some clothing seemed extra absurd (and it certainly got an expression from Ryuuji). Why do I predict a slam crash for little Taiga concerning her feelings on Christmas?

(have completely shut the novels off until the series over -- don't want to have any expectations)

Probably her intention. She did seem to be flirting with him...

It's a Japanese figure of speech to go out of one's way to help, it is derived from helping someone meant manual labor so they would take their shirt off. (一肌脱ぐ [Hitohada nugu])

It's not like she's not aware of the secondary connotations, though. Heh.

No what she said was "hito hada mo futahada mo nuide agekuha mappani naru" meaning " I am more than willing to take one two shirts off and go full monty for you".
The original figure of speech only calls for "Hito hada(one shirt)" not the full attire.

I know, that's why I responded in kind. ^^;;

The secondary meaning is more important to us, as sex starved Americans. But it doesn't make sense in context to what she actually says, "In order to give everyone a happy and joyful Christmas.... "

Granted, I would have a happy and joyful Christmas if she offered to take her clothes off...
