Anyways, this sounds... in teresting, to say the least

Tatsuya is the MC of Mahouka Kokou no Rettosei (dat word salad, am I right?). He's sort of like the demonic spawn of the Terminator, Lex Luthor, and Aizen (OT3 ). Except a good guy.

Yeah, I remember him now... I've read the first four volumes of MKnR; it's currently on my backburner (since I find Tatsuya extremely OP, but that's not for this thread)

At least the good news here is that our MC is rather strong... I'm seeing that trend lately with quite a few novels

It's been pointed out a few more times in the other threads for stories with strong MC's as well.

It only means one thing, really.

How strong exactly? Like in comparison to other characters in the series.

well, in hundred universe, at least in his school, like in manga chapter which is already translated, he has the highest compatibility in the entire school, his Hundred is Chevalier model i believe, compare huh ... the most similar example i can think of is Ayato from Gakuen Toshi but without restriction, dunno if that's a good example though.
actually it's not a new trend, there are 3 basic type of MC commonly see :
- Type 1 : simple, idiotic hero who grow stronger as the story progress, the chosen one who was the MC, mainly appear in shounen manga, quite popular back in the day but recently outdo by type 3 but still popular nonetheless, prime example would be Naruto, Ichigo, luffy,...
- Type 2 : lucky type MC, or like people called them with sarcasm " wishy washy MC" mainly appear in fanservice or ecchi manga, the MC is hated by many but the amount of fanservice help them and they are very easy to write so it's quite a popular choice among author. Prime example would be Yuki Rito.
- Type 3 : Badass type MC who start out strong, the most recent trend due to the fact they have a reason to have girls followed them, they are capable and ue to the fact that they are already strong, the story generally have more depth than type 1 and type 2 but it's rather hard to write about them due to the need of settings, plot. Mainly appear in dark story, LN which is extensively long. Prime example would be Kirito and Tatsuya.
Actually the recent trend is a mixed between type 1 and type 3, prime example is Hyoudo Issei, MC from DunMachi, basically, the story still have MC growing from weak to strong, but become badass and have their reason to get girl, but quite hard to pull off and their many failed attempt, Shiroe is also 1 of this type but lean more toward type 3 as we can still see his develop from running mentality to accept and face the world. An example of failed attempt would be Ichika, basically, he has unit 1 which could be considered strongest, just that he himself is not up to par but over 7 vol and almost no development whatsoever in his character or his capability, just the machine have the evolution.

The deciding factor that will determine whether this series is just an IS clone complete with all its shortcomings will ultimately be whether he wins or loses against the president. If he loses, then this is just an IS clone and we should jump ship while we still have our sanity. Actually, can anyone who's read the novel just spoil us as to whether he wins or loses?
