Sorry, but kosher slaughtering isn't any worse than factory-farm slaughtering. In kosher slaughter of beef, the cow is killed with a single slash to the carotid artery with a razor-sharp knife. They lose consciousness within moments, and die not that long afterwards...

... while the typical slaughterhouse "stuns" the animal with what's basically a bolt gun. Pretty much just like a regular gun, except there's a stop to prevent the projectile from traveling too far. It usually knocks a hole in their heads, driving fragments of bone into their brain, but doesn't kill them. Just scrambles their brains good. Then they string them up by their legs and cut their throats with a mechanical knife, which I doubt is as sharp as the kosher-mandated knife.

The only difference is factory-farm slaughterhouses shoot the cow before cutting its throat, and that shot doesn't generally kill them. It's not like they use anesthetics to send the cow peacefully off to dreamland before killing them. They fucking shoot it in the head with a bolt gun.

The New York Police Department, which investigated the case, declined comment. The woman’s lawyer did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
The New York Times first reported that investigators uncovered major holes in the woman, citing two law enforcement officials. One of the officials told the Times that the woman has repeatedly lied since making the initial allegation May 14.
The discoveries include issues stemming from the asylum application of the 32-year-old woman, who is from Guinea, and possible links to criminal activities such as drug dealing and money laundering, one of the officials told the newspaper. The Times reported that senior prosecutors and Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers are discussing whether to dismiss the felony charges against him.
Another person familiar with the case, speaking on condition of anonymity for the same reason, said earlier Thursday that Strauss-Kahn may get his pricey bail and house arrest arrangement eased in the case at a court hearing scheduled for Friday. The person declined to detail what the new bail arrangements might be.

Kinda ironic that his satire, along with Stewart's, are incredibly true as compared to "fair and balanced" news offered by other news agencies.

That's because, even if they are doing a satire, they are still using true to do it.

You kinda need truth to do satire tho, it wouldn't work otherwise. It's what made George Carlin so damn good at what he did too, after all.

"This is radical, extreme government intrusion into private health care," Peter Brownlie, president of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, said Thursday as his clinic filed suit in U.S. District Court to have the new regulations thrown out. "We have been targeted in this bill and Kansas women are the ones who will suffer... This wasn't chipping away at the edges — this was a full, frontal assault."
More examples of Republican ver of Small Government.

We all know how much legislators know about health care for women — nothing," Hodes said.
I like this quote by one of the doctors.

It's always great to see all these "faithful, god-loving" Republicans always demand women keep their babies only to cut every public program that would help those same women in raising the babies.

Like what? That he can't keep it in his pants is not news. Slightly embarrassing, but not a deal breaker by any means. That he's a possible rapist - more annoying, but the ones most inclined to believe that weren't likely to vote for him in the first place.

That he's (or rather, his wife) got a boatload of money and won't hesitate to use it... I don't know if his electorate would forgive that.

Yes the paradoxon of protecting the unborn life more so than the born one is what really puzzles me too. In their delusional world abortion is not the will of god, but cutting social benefits and starting costly wars is.

This isn't even the worst of it. The anti-abortion nutters are so fucking batshit insane they tried to redefine rape in order to prevent victims from aborting their rapist's fetus.

Not only that, but they're trying to push legislation to ban birth control and grant unfertilized eggs "person" status, in order to kill stem cell research.

I wonder, does that mean we can all start claiming millions of dependents on our taxes?

It's shit like this that really makes me wonder if killing these people would even be considered murder or simply a cleansing of the gene pool?

Don't forget executing criminals and denying healthcare to the poor!
