As one of the people who have read the novels, I have to say it was GLORIOUS. The direction, the animation, the music... everything was perfect. I would give this episode 11/10 if I could.

If for nothing else, this episode alone will be remembered as the harbinger of a new fetish for a ton of people.

But damn, seriously. To be honest, I kinda like this, if you're really going to go full fanservice you better not half-ass it, and this one delivers in all fronts. The scenes alone are literally sexier than porn, Eri Kitamura's moans can make criminals out of decent men, and the visuals and the soundtrack is simply heavenly (no seriously, I want that BGM). Speaking of, the new opening is amazing too, were it not for Ren'ai Circulation I'd easily put it at the top of all Monogatari OP so far.

Btw, is this going to be a pattern now? First episode of Karen Bee doesn't have Karen and now she's taking over the first episode of Tsukihi Roadrunner, will Tsukihi dominate the first episode of the new arc when the new season comes around as well?

I don't know what to think about their relationship. What Koyomi thinks about his little sister ? What about Senjouhara. It seems to me that he loves Senjouhara and find his little sister attractive (but doesn't love her as she (Karen) loves him).

And how should I rate this episode serioulsy

Can't say I expected this episode to turn into Koyomi and Karen doing something like that. Figured the toothbrush was shocking enough, but it got pretty heavy there. If Tsukihi hadn't shown up there things would have gotten pretty....well yeah.

That's the pattern of the first season. Each heroine reppears again in the next story. Before Karen Bee there was Koyomi Vamp, so we had Shinobu there.

This episode was amazing on so many different levels. It gets close enough to a ten for a round up.

This was indeed a pretty damn glorious episode.

The first scene (Koyomi explaining things about Tsukihi) and the opening song/animation really sort of rekindled my infatuation with Tsukihi. I guess it's just refreshing to see her in new clothes/having different hairstyles.

The OP itself was pretty good. Cute singing coupled with a cute dance animation = win. With Hitagi cutting her hair, someone needs to be there to offer me some ponytail service

I don't mind the long bobbed hair either, though. I can't help but think of the various times this show has alluded to her "scary side". We have seen her with a kitchen knife, just now she went to buy an awl and Koyomi has described her as more frightening than Karen. Just how much is Tsukihi hiding?

The toothbrush scene was great. Incest as a theme or a device is really powerful. It really makes you look at a character in sort of a different light. Makes you pass judgement on them, in some way. I would dare to say that even the most naive watchers, who think of Koyomi as nothing else but your regular harem owner, wake up to the true level of his pervertedness. Karen isn't exactly innocent, either. I mean, why in the world did she get the idea that Koyomi wanted to insert the toothbrush into her butt? I guess she's just imaginative

I haven't read the novels, so I don't know if this was a "one off" situation. They didn't go there, but they both wanted to, at one point.

I ended up watching the episode few more times

Aside from the toothbrush scene, I noticed that Araragi started to call his sister by their name plus chan now. Araragi is becoming more honest with himself. I wish I could've gotten some reaction on sister's side.
And Araragi stepping on Karen's head... Hitagi must be rubbing off of him. We also see Karen going into threatening mode when the nice cute imouto antics didn't work. And, Karen's initial imagination of sticking the toothbrush into her anus... fearsome thought indeed.
Araragi's various faces toward his situation were very fun to watch as we..

Yeah. I entertained this thought as well. I don't know how big of a motif the relationship between Karen and Koyomi is going to be in Tsukihi Phoenix. One possibility is to focus on Tsukihi and how she deals with it during the arc. Given how the whole family seems to be bro/siscons, I wouldn't be surprised if Tsukihi joined Koyomi and Karen in a lovely threesome. Only available in Blu-ray, though!
