It just feels like i miss Suzumiya, everytime i hear the songs that she sang at the cultural festival, God Knows... and Lost my music, i feel a twinge in my heart and i just miss her lol. It's weird. This anime didn't feel particularly good to me but i feel like i really got attached to her. She's just so cute!

i just started watching this series about 5 days ago.....i'm already on ep.6 and its pretty good so far.....kinda confusing since there is two ways to watch the series...but i'm enjoying it so far.
but i heard the manga goes farther than the anime....anyone think there will be a 2nd season??
and i can't believe the reaction that this series has made....its pretty big in japan, especially with the soundtracks and music CDs....there could be a high chance it could get licensed and come over to the US....
but overall, good anime show!

It's not a manga in its original form, it's a series of novels, and yes it goes beyond the anime, and there's hope that they will make a second season at some point, after Kanon remake.

Hmmm this is the Final Thoughts thread, so I guess my final words before I leave for the army would suit here. Every male Singaporean has to join the army once they're above 18 years old.

I was someone who found life really boring and not going the way I want it to be, I'm probably one of those people who added to the statistics. The Happy Planet Index, to be exact, which Singapore ranks as one of the least happy countries in Asia. I found Singaporean schools extremely boring and higher education didn't fufil what I seek. I've never heard of any Singaporean every becoming an expert in NASA, it was my greatest dream to be part of space exploration. I also had interest in Wildlife conservation, but I don't know how these schools in Singapore can make me one. Then there's animation, anime, art, sketching, something Singapore isn't known for. Singaporean education aims to produce a working force for service, something I'm not interested at all.

I thought it was the greatest mistake in my life to be born in Singapore.

I studied 1.3 years in Aerospace Electronics, relatives were proud that I could enter such a course. But I was extremely bored, everyday of my life was repetitive and pointless, I never had interest in electronics in all my life. So I dropped myself out of the course after convincing my parents that this wasn't what I want.

After I stopped my school and applied for the army enlistment, I found myself becoming an otaku at home. This is when I found Haruhi, it brought my life back on track.

Recently I found the word resonate, a very beautiful word.

I realised that the story of Suzumiya Haruhi is my resonant frequency, I found myself in the entire story. Every single aspect of the story, the science fiction, the philosophy, the psychology, everything reaches me deep inside, it was like the story was written for me.

The simplicity of the story makes it so complex, and because of that, its frequency is so high, not everyone can hear it, its almost ultrasound. Every little detail, every little aspect and event that happens, work like intricate clockwork of a watch, only the those with the sharpest eyes can comprehend.

But I got it immediately, I just happen to tune to that frequency, placed my ears close to the radio and recieved the message.

How did Haruhi change me?

She taught me that if I have to get what I want, I have to work for it, I have to chase after it. She has been lamenting over the boredom of this planet, but when she finally found that if there's nothing you want, you have to create it yourself. Chances don't just appear, you must create your own chances. And when the chance you're summoning finally comes, you must grab it.

I worship Haruhi for the exact reasons, she brought colour to my life.

well i just finished watching every episode last night and i gotta say, this is one of the best animes i've watched this year....second being FMP: second raid.....but this show still confuses me, especially with the two ways you could watch this show.....so i guess i'm gonna watch it all again a second time....
but everyone can relate to this show, especially with people who are always bored and stuff....and as some people in this thread already said, everyone should take advantage of certain events or chances that come their way in their lives...just as Haruhi did, especially in ep.12....that was a good episode

i guess its another reason why they should somewat create a season 2....i dunno, part of me wants a season two, but the other part doesn't, i guess cuz i'm still confused with all the happenings in the show....and its weird as how Kyon isn't his real name, its just a nickname given to him by his aunt??!!@_@
and its great on how like in the last episode, Kyon had to use the hints that mostly Yuki and Mikuru gave him throughout the episode, to get out of that closed space...kool stuff
animation was one of the best i've seen also...very smooth and clean...
overall, great anime, recommend people to watch it, but the first episode seems to somewat, bore anyone who doesn't have a clue with this series.....when i first watched it i was like "what is this crap??", but everything soon became interesting when i watched the second episode and when i found out that there is two ways of watching this series, one by Kyon's way and one by Haruhi's way!
10/10 for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!!!
hopefully second season comes soon, if it does come.....

It took me more than two months and an anal amount of patience despite being constantly and consistently frustrated with Haruhiists and Haruhi Suzumiya, and now that I've finished it, I'd say it was quite good ... I realized that there was a lot of implied romance in the later episodes (which I truly love, since I'm a sucker for them), and that kiss was simply masterful and revealing - Kyon has definitely a veritable harem in his midst (yes, even Itsuki is hot for him). Haha.

Personally, I think Itsuki's theory is wrong, even he himself has doubts about the theory.

The point of listening to the theories of the 3 representives of the 3 groups, Yuki, Mikuru and Itsuki, is to give us an idea of what Haruhi may be and even more questions of she really is.

The origin of a time warp, time quake? Did she really caused such an event? Well, if Mikuru didn't lie, it should be true. Haruhi is an anomaly, a variant, someone who's existance is an error, a disturbance to space-time? Could be yes or no. But as long as adult Mikuru is there, it means that the future is fixed, meaning the future is an outcome that will eventually happen despite Haruhi's effects. Past affects future, but in this case the future can affect the past as well.

We aren't supposed to believe in just Itsuki's theory, believe in one and you should believe in all three, but all three could also be wrong. Meaning we should be sceptical and Haruhi still remains as a mystery. But if we were to rank the credibility of the theories, 1 - Yuki, 2 - Mikuru, 3 - Itsuki.

As far as the Data Entities go, Haruhi didn't create this world in a dream.

And though Haruhi has the powers of a god, she isn't really a god. If she's a god, the data entities could be considered gods as well. Haruhi is just another being that came into existance in this universe.

If Haruhiism itself didn't exist, there wouldn't be Haruhists. Haruhiism is created by kyoani, if they didn't place it in there, in the anime, no one would call themselves Haruhists. Haruhists are people who understand the story, simple as that. And how does one know he's a Haruhist? When someone else acknowledges him as one. But then, how do you know this person knows what he is acknowledging? Acknowledging Haruhists is a mutual event. Both parties will realise it immediately, its a strong apprehension force. The original hype from the 1st and 2nd week of the show was created by the novel readers, but it was a healthy form of hype. Then, of course there were also those who were in awe after watching episode 1. Then those people who never read the novels but watched the anime and began reading the novels after it. This group includes me, who read the novels while watching the show every week. These people who read the novels and watched the anime are those who originally created the hype, because the anime presented the novels in such a brilliant way. In the anime, there were so many subtle details, tiny events that seemed insignificant but actually greatly affects the plot and those that are very far into the novels. Depth that people who never read the novels can never understand. And also these people are actually who I consider Haruhists. Haruhists are not fanboys or fans, there are people who read the novels but critised the anime for not being able to fully bring out contents of the novels, these people are also Haruhists. In short a Haruhist is a person who understands the story. People always think a Haruhist is 'special' name for a fanboy, but no, they are separate things. You can be a Haruhist and a fanboy, or a fanatic. The unhealthy hype came later when more people started watched the show, these people became real fanboys rather than Haruhists. They didn't understand the show, they didn't bother to read the novels, but still liked it and started spreading and overrating the show for reasons they themselves are not sure. --------------- You can see I'm a Haruhist(I'm sure I am, for you people have confirmed I'm one ), but at the same time I'm a fanatic, which people can also clearly see. panzerfan Name means little... Graphic Designer Join Date: Dec 2004	well... Spoiler for ranting time: I am still trying to grasp how deep the rabbit hole goes regarding Haruhi. For me, Kyon resonates the most. He speaks to me, a former ronin flunked from collage after going in straight out of high school like no other and Haruhi as the foil at least gives much the same feelings I got as what C.A describes (I am lucky to be brought up in an encouraging educational system though). Hell right now I am still coping how that I have no talant in programming but does better in IT admin. I enjoy Suzumiya Haurhi the anime series and the novel even moreso. All in all I agree with C.A's stance. Just as I reflected before, escape from boredom has to be something that you do... and believe me, every flunkee goes through that stage. And especially with the 14th episode, on how Koizumi tells Kyon that the reason why they were in the closed space at school was because Haruhi wanted to change the world again....that was a pretty tight situation right there....since it happend while they were sleeping, it also reminds me that when people dream, is it somewat similar to closed space?? since it is a new world created by the dreamer, all the characters and personalities are made up by the dreamer itself and when the person wakes up, the "closed space" or dream disappears....and the results of the dream can sometimes take place in real life as "deja vu??"
