Watching Makoto in action is like watching a train wreck in slow motion and it is intended to give the viewer a perverse sense of enjoyment - kind of like NASCAR in that you're not watching it for the racing, you're watching it for the wrecks. Calling Makoto a "generic harem lead" is an affront to the other harem leads out there - yeah, Makoto shows all the typical loser traits, but he is a loser with style.

Eagerly waiting for that bombshell moment that completely turns the story on its head - you know it's coming. And I have a feeling that it might equal KGNE 2, D.C. 16-18, Gift 9-10, and Canvas2 24... keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't watch NASCAR and there's a reason for that (excluding the fact that it's not popular outside of the US). Anyway, I still stand by what I've said earlier: if you put an unlikable loser in the lead role, you kill any chance for true drama, and all you get is melodrama. Drama is about complexity, all the various shades of gray in what are generally black-and-white situations, understanding character's motivations and caring about the consequences they encounter. I don't see any of that happening when the two leads (let's not forget Katsura, who is equally bland, IMO, and seemingly not much smarter than Makoto) are one-dimensional, selfish and stupid.

This is intended as lowbrow entertainment.

Some bishoujo game writers take their storytelling seriously - for instance, the people who've written for Key, Nitroplus, Type-Moon (the writing is horrendous, but they try), and Nekoneko Software. However, School Days is a melodramatic sex romp that doesn't take itself seriously.

While no one's going to heap tons of praise on this sort of stuff, it can still be a guilty pleasure.

I really get bored on ep3, becouse I can't get any of what was they talking about. For example, when that girls was talking with Kotonoha in the classroom, with some papers. I though that papers was exams and Kotonoha get down the notes becouse her boyfriend or like I love to say The boy who don't have attributes and have more than 3 girls wanting him. .

When I saw Kokoro the first time, I say "moe moe moe de moe de moe de moe de moe~ :3" yup, she is the hyperactive-imouto of Kotonoha-san (and that reminds me Akane and Haruka from Kiminozo, definetly this will finish with Katsura or Sekai (Kokoro-chan and Otome maybe) hurted by him) she's the inocent loli

Yup, only was boring.

You might like to know that there's 2 ero scenes featuring Kokoro in Summer Days. Brave move on 0verflow part after they explicitly state that she's 12 in the game. And did you check out Makoto's 5 year old sister Itaru yet ?

PS :- Sekai's mom and Kokoro share the same seiyuu in the game. Will the anime do like wise ?

As far as I can tell this show is intended to be a melodramatic tragicomedy that isn't supposed to be taken too seriously. The soap and cheese factors are already at high levels - far above what I'm used to seeing from most harem shows.

Looking forward to Makoto's antics in the coming episodes - the guy isn't merely pathetic, he practically makes it an art form. Give the guy some credit for at least being innovative - how many guys takes a girl to see a porn movie, or sends another girl after his date?

Sorrow-K: let's just accept the fact that different people have different tastes. You don't like School Days, and I didn't like Kanon 2006 or Suzumiya Haruhi. No reason to get upset because other people like a show that you don't like.

I had quite the feeling when I first saw the 2nd ending, I thought to myself "damn they are probably going to do something silly like have a different ending song for each episode"
