That's because quite some people, especially the younger generation, knew MJ not because of his musics but the negative craps and shits about him. They probably didn't care about MJ's death or MJ himself as a whole. They talked about him just because MJ is a "celebrity".

Simple.
Pearl Harbor.
Eh, no. North Korea has no capacity to launch much of an attack against anyone other than South Korea, and the result would be much the same regardless of how much news attention was paid to them. Is reporting on North Korea more important than reporting on Michael Jackson? Sure, but let's not go overboard about it.

Been away from the Asuki world for a while and had to seperate myself from following MJ news too.
(Will back read this thread later)
But today is the memorial day.
Japan time it begins at 2am and I gotta get up at 6.30am, so sadly I can't stay up to watch it without some serious reprecussions
I guess I gotta see if I can catch a download later...

Was curious though if any Americans here tried for the raffle to get tickets in the first place?

Do people go to funerals and tell people to be sad for someone else?

People go to funerals to pay respects to the person they cared for.

This thread is a place for people who cared for Michael Jackson, for people who liked him to talk about him.

I'm watching too, even though I have a mountain of work to do. And all the kids in my house are watching it too, I didn't even have to make them.

I love how they had that lone spotlight at the end while playing Man in the Mirror (I think). Just reinforces the empty stage left behind by MJ's death.

Wow, the memorial was really beautiful. All of it. I think Michael would be pretty happy with all that.

I want to see it again, cause i lost some parts. I'm hoping for a channel doing a rerun.

Is just a summary of the memorial which is enough for me atm, gonna see if I can catch the entire thing later.
But here's what was playing in my mind for the last week now.
I read that MJ had granted Diana Ross custody of his kids should his mother pass away or is unable to look after them, but I was wondering if his ex wife (Presely) should have an influence, simply for being in the same boat.

"Child of a musical icon"
Although I doubt the media ripped and tore into Elvis the way they did (and still are) ripping into MJ, but this is the first time we catch the face of one of his kids, in this case Paris, 11 years old.
To be honest, on the eve of being a teen, that's gotta be one of the worst ages to lose your sole parent.
Not only is she old enough to perhaps understand the harshness of life and what it means to be MJ's daughter, but naturally all allegations to do with the child molestation cases, some people are gonna be shallow, bitter, cruel enough to not let go and maybe torment her with it, be it the media or just people who simply weren't fans.
The Princes themselves have the protection of the monarchy to escape the media, but William more or less told them straight out:
'leave us alone the way you didn't leave my mother alone, we want to live our lives'
It worked to a degree as kids of an 'international icon', I hope it'll be something similar here.

My wish/hope for all 3 of them is that they grow up through their teens okay.
Can't always say 'sane', goodness knows, our own lives were probably full of turmoil as teens somedays, but alike Lisa Presely, out of the spotlight, doing their own thing and not pulling a Britney or Lindsey Loahan -.-
And kinda make their own path, with their own talents in life.

Alright, honest, his daughter Paris talking about him, was so moving and touching,
I think from all the interviews i have seen lately, all the coverage-materials and stuff, i start to appreciate him way more about who he was, apart from him being a tremendous talent in the music-field.
A great loss, from all aspects, honest.

I'm thinking it's something that's caused a lot of death, medication.

That part really hit me hard(the microphone in the lone spotlight well symbolizes that we lost a great entertainer), same with his daughter's speech. It was a really touching memorial.

Couldn't agree more. I really should have watched more of his funeral than I did. But when I saw Paris up there, pouring her heart out like that I just....all those stupid paparazzi can just stuff it. There's no doubt in my mind that MJ was a good, no, a GREAT man.

R.I.P. Michael.

I guess it hits you when you watch the memorial video. Rest in peace, he wasn't meant for a world where greed will take advantage of generosity and childlike innocence like the kind he had.
