New addition to my portfolio

Not really anime related, but more art related.

I finally have been cleared to add the project that I did earlier this year for SF Xtreme. It's under the Art section of my website.

PeppstaR- I hope I'm not being stupid or anything but I visited your link and I get
a page with the Red bar at the top with the red logo, followed by the black gear logo
and the text "Welcome... This site is best viewed..." but I can't find a link to actually
get into your site. T-T I'm not using IE, do I have to use it to view your page?

Hmm.... can you view frames? The site is set up in frames. The Red bar on the top should have a Logo that says AG Art Studios and the menu is listed underneath it. What are you using to view the page? Let me know so that I may test the page under different browsers.

Looking myself. yep, if you're not using IE you get a page with no links.

(actually, they're there, they're just hidden under the bottom frame, because the top frameset has both scrolling="NO" and noresize set. Bad design.)

If you're using Mozilla, right click on the top banner, select "this frame"->open frame in new window
and then you can see the links.

Or you can reduce your font size with Ctrl-- until it's visible. Though that makes the text so small I can barely read it.

Looking at the source of that frame: If the author would remove the first <p> tag, I think it would move it up enough to see the text. (though I'm just guessing.) IE is known to ignore initial <p> tags, whereas many other browsers put extra vertical blanks in that case. (both behaviors are standards compliant I believe.)

Ahhhh I see now.... I'm not much of a web designer. I just use dreamweaver along with the few html basics that I know. I never really tested the site under other browsers, only IE . Next time I have more free time, I will work out all the bugs. <- Me working out the bugs

Thanks guys for your help!

Yeah, the forum came with the webhost so I put it up, no one really posts anything tho. I'll just leave it up, maybe it will grow.

I've probably got my fonts set larger than you do.

The basic problem is that there's no way to have a fixed size frame that contains elements that can be resized by the browser that works everywhere.

Either make everything in it images, or allow the frame to be resized/scrolled.

BTW: the latest version works, though the text is small enough that it's a little hard to read. (not too bad, just enough to be noticable)

PeppstaR- Oh, thank you! Yes, I am using Mozilla Firebird. It's kind of a whacky thing
but IE was giving me more trouble than it's worth. And even though I uninstalled IE it
still gives me trouble! Silly Microsoft... Well, I really like your art, and I really dig your
thumbnails when the characters pop out of the outline.

Easy job market? no.

Pay well? Not yet.

I've been getting great jobs as you can see from my portfolio but they aren't steady yet. Like when I got the job from SF Xtreme. I was great because they wanted so many images done but it's been getting slower since.

I have to do a lot to keep things going. I've been taking all the jobs thrown at me but sometimes it get frustrating because the clients don't approve everything and it gets thrown back to the beginning or thrown out all together. Fortunately for me, my fiance helps me out alot as I get my art studio going. If I were trying to get by myself, it wouldn't pay enough (San Francisco is probably one of the most expensive cities to live in)

BUT- don't get discouraged. I don't have anything to back me up besides my work. I never attended any art schools or classes so sometimes they don't even look at my portfolio. I also don't have any other professional art experience besides the work I've done since I started my art studio. I don't think that I would be a great example if you wanted to know more about the job market and pay scale.

So, in all looks like the top 2 things the industry desires are your sketching and concepts. It's not that they should be presented in that order, as concept and skill do come hand in hand..

as of now I've been raking in what come my way
