I'm still largely underwhelmed by Fuyumi, eight episodes in and I can't say I care, but that might be because I've just never been a fan of damsels in distress and Fuyumi has been nothing but the damsel for the entirety so far.
I don't even really understand why more of the character building focus has been on Bell and Liz (the latter I can understand, actually). Seems like a waste really since we all know how this will end. I'm more sad that we don't see the little furry thing than I am of any lost screen time for Fuyumi.

So is the king of Acropolis Wolf's dad?
Anyway, with 2 (?) episodes to go, I'm not really sure if we will get any sort of conclusion from anything. It already looks like the story is going off on another tangent. I'm hoping sales have been good enough to have another season of this.

Wolf Daddy... xD Well, he's a (were)wolf and a daddy, who needs subtlety anyway. And does this mean Wolf will be back for some family drama?
Beros is pretty fun with her Underdog Choker (awesome name, also cute demon doggies) and her cute snake tail. I hope she'll have a major role. The Staz vs Bell fight was fun, but I didn't really appreciate the Bell Angst out of nowhere. Can we just have a romance without anyone angsting? So blond guy (Nell? Knell?) is Bell's brother. Their mom... eek. |

Liz caused more trouble than she thought.
Didn't think their brother would be in trouble in his own world. Surprise, surprise! Who knew Knell was related to a certain someone ^^" Wonder what Bell's reasons are for that kind of behavior. Guess it has something to do with her family. Bell vs Staz was totally ROFL and the highlight of the episode!

Episode 8
Hooray! A Belle episode! I like Fuyumi, don't get me wrong, but for some reason I've been leaning towards Belle as my favorite girl more and more as the series goes on. I find her quite cute with her feelings. It's a shame this is only 10 episodes. |

WHAT THE? 10 EPISODES? this better have a season 2!
besides, I want to see more of bell, she's the one keeping this series interesting. and I'd like to see who that mama was. as for the big bro's master plan, it seems obvious, especially now that we know wolf daddy killed staz's parents. Quote:
who wants to bet that the previous ruling family in demon world was staz's family?

Blood Lad is just really good, straightforward anime, plain and simple - inventive and smart and cleverly genre-referential without being precious about it. I wish we had more shows like it, and I wish the ones we had were more commercially successful - that they aren't, I suppose, is the reason we don't have more of them. Most of the anime that really rake in the yen seem to either insult the intelligence of the audience or engage in pretentious pseudo-intellectualism - sadly, Blood Lad lies squarely the space in between, which is mostly a commercial wasteland.

The eighth episode.
So, my hunch was right two episodes ago that Braz imprisoned Frankenstein in order to take him (Franken) to his (Braz) laboratory back home. Unfortunately, he did not follow the proper procedure to return to the Acropolis, which gave Beros (not to be confused with a character named Bellows from another anime) the needed bureaucratic excuse to arrest him. And, once Staz read the name imprinted on the business card, then my mind immediately jumped to the conclusion that Knell is Bell's relative; her younger brother. Now, what does their "Mama" wants Fuyumi for? I'll know next episode. However, when they refer to "Mama" I do not quite actually believe that she's their real mother. I believe more that "Mama" is actually a matron of sorts. Lastly, Wolf-Daddy. The name so obvious. He must likely be Wolf-Boy's father. |
