Is knowledge of the original series necessary to watch and fully enjoy Saiyuki RELOAD?

hmm.... IMO not really, since the Original Saiyuki is basically the same as reload, a bishounen beat 'em up series.

This is the first disc of the first series of Saiyuki. Saiyuki Reloaded is the second series. While it is also almost certainly licensed, this link doesn't prove that.

There is no such show as Saiyuki Reloaded.

That show is the first season of Saiyuki.

The second season Saiyuki RELOAD is not licensed.

Um, dude, the other guy's right. This isn't Saiyuki RELOAD. RELOAD is the SEQUEL to the ORIGINAL Gensomaden Saiyuki, which is the one featured on this page.

Trust me... I've watched both...

Well, licensed or not, it's only a matter of time before Sayuki RELOAD is licensed anyways. ADV has the first season so it only makes sense for them to license this one as well. It's gonna be the same thing with Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. It's only a matter of when ADV will license that title as well.

Spoiler: The original Gensoumaden Saiyuki is basically the story of a rag-tag group assembled by a god in heaven to travel to the east to find out the source of all the demons(youkai) going beserk.
