Well, I saw ep 3 myself

Yuuji tries to put up a farce and appear to be the hunkish gentleman in public. But Kazuki's best friend Chihaya somehow sees through his farce (his twiching eyebrow) and kinda blows his cover by seducing him (though she also kinda gets assaulted by him in the process), and the ep ends in a hilarious way with Chihaya repeatedly teasing him with her skirt and Marie shooting him silly each time, and apparently Chihaya finds amusement in this (somehow she's beginning to remind me of Love Hina's Kitsune).

Episode 3 of Tona Gura! establishes a pattern of puns that are going to be employed consistently throughout the series.

Spoiler:

1. Every episode if there aren't exceptions will end up with Yuuji shot by Marie.

2. At some point, Hatsune will be shown wearing a different wardrobe, traditional and ethnic to a foreign country. For example, she wore a Hindu dress, and the next episode features her wearing a Chinese qipao.

3. Yuuji without realizing will continue recalling the childhood memories that he and Kazuki spent, making Kazuki blush.

One of the better puns is Kazuki having daydreams about Yuuji being cool and gentleman fullfilling their promise. She either wakes up on her head or her fantasies shattered with her reality check about Yuuji still lingering on his lecherous ways.

Summary:

The first day of school for both Yuuji and Marie, and it is not funny business for Kazuki disappointed and frightened that Yuuji's lechery will rampage out.

It turns out that teasing more on her fantasies, Yuuji pulls out a bishounen face to impress her, but the drawback is that he can put it on for a limited time as needs to breath.

Kazuki makes up an idea to save face at school, and that is Yuuji putting on his bishounen face to cause a good impression. Naturally, he does so introducing himself to the class, making all the girls going lovey-dovey on him.

Worries amount for poor Kazuki since she and Yuuji belong to different classrooms and expects the awfully worst. Chihaya overhearing Kazuki's soliloque gives her some reality check and teases about checking on the classroom.

Kazuki's fears are cleared off watching Yuuji behaving properly, but soon starts to get frustrated and maybe envious with all the focus and the attention that those girls are giving to Yuuji; she leaves undignified.

Yuuji can barely keep on with the bishounen face and starts to twitch slightly, unnoticed by the rest of his female classmates but not by Chihaya who gives the wicked eye.

I recommend you all to watch episode four; a cute one full of Marie and Nina kawaii & moe -ness.

Nina, the little blonde girl, happens to be a classmate of Marie's. She's Japanese-American: Mother = USA / Father = Japan.

In the last episode she made a flashy impression on Marie, that made the latter fearful of her. Apparently, Nina is on a childish infatuation with Marie and accosts her whenever the chance arises to hug and know her better.

Also, Marie's elurophobia (fear of cats) becomes a plot vehicle for both girls in becoming friends.

Despite his overwhelming echiness, Yuuji devises a plan as to make mending their friendship with each other.
1. He invites Nina to Kazuki's house to help Hatsune with Chinese cooking without Marie noticing.
2. Marie arrives to Kazuki's home just to find Nina helping Hatsune with dinner. She has no choice but also helping out too.
3. Yuuji tells Kazuki not to interfere and let the girls sort out alone. Dinner is served, and Yuuji serves himself a sample of Nina's Chinese pastry cookies. He makes a bitter comment about their ugly shape, which prompts Marie to pick one and taste it.
4. Marie exclaims that Nina's cooking is good, the comment which makes Nina smile blissfully. She's about to give a big hug to Marie, but the latter in fear shields herself with the teddy bear.
5. Recalling on what Yuuji told her about Marie, Nina gently shakes the hand of the teddy, and Marie replies as well with the teddy.
6. Yuuji wins another admirer on Nina, as hugs as a thanks for getting she and Marie closer; Yuuji smiles pervertedly, feeling Nina's small chest which prompts Marie to shoot him point-blank range on the face.

Would roughly translate to: A spruce Yuuji and a surprised Kazuki.

Tonagura! titles are quite straightforward with the exception of ep 4's: にゃあ～（　ﾟωﾟ）haha, then again, it's rather fitting.

Ah, forgot to comment on episode 4.

Spoiler for Episode 4:

Niina, the perennial spunky (annoying?) foreign girl (actually half-Japanese). Sort of reminds me of Love Hina being loli and all, though Niina-chan is bustier and she's also part of the pantsu contingent.

And of course, the quiet little sister type lives on with Marie, although she's pretty unrelenting.

This is getting better and better. A proper dosage of tsundere, moe, and fanservice never hurts a show.

Upon commenting for episode four, I noted Marie became even more ruthless and proactive delivering justice (i.e. shooting him) to Yuuji every time that caught him on about or in the middle of his lechery acts.

I felt a little vexing, since Kazuki is also more than able to handle Yuuji by herself.
I sort of missed the punches and kicks that lacked in that episode.

it looks like the story is starting to delve into the angtsy side, as Yuuji's behavior seems to be getting Kazuki worked up, especially with Chihaya getting a little too "friendly" with him, though Chihaya is still cheering for the two childhood friends. But the blow comes at the end of the episode, with a hint of warning noticable at the halfway point.

Yuuji reveals his secret hobby: Photography, though a first peek at one of his collections only gets Kazuki steamed yet again (photographs of well endowed girls in suggestive outfits, with the camera mostly centered on their chests). But Yuuji starts taking "decent" pictures (i.e. non-ecchi) of everyone. Notably absent is Kazuki, who disappeared to her room for a change of clothes. The gang walks in while she's still in her underwear (much to her embarrassment) and Yuuji tries to get a snapshot. Before Kazuki could sock it to him, Chihaya intervenes and diverts his attention long enough for Kazuki to get dressed. But thing is, everyone but Kazuki eventually leaves the room for some reason, leaving Kazuki dumbstruck. She is seen sitting silently on the balcony, when Yuuji pops out of nowhere with his camera on her, but Kazuki's not in the mood, and tears start to trickle from her eyes, surprising Yuuji. Chihaya shows up surprised as well at Kazuki, then she volunteers to take a picture of the two neighbors together - shoving Yuuji to Kazuki and they end up face to face just inches apart. Apparently this was the last straw for Kazuki who starts badgering Chihaya wondering what her intentions are. While Chihaya apologizes (not sure exactly what for), Yuuji intervenes and says something which apparently causes Kazuki to walk away with a resigned disposition.

Kazuki responds with full resignation (her first word is "wakata" - "I understand"), and tearfully says something which to me sounds like she's never talking to Yuuji again, then runs out of the room in a fit. Chihaya is dumbfounded, then tries to scold Yuuji, but only notices that Yuuji is just standing there on the balcony with a blank expression on his face, and judging from the preview of ep 6, he's in the clicheic "frozen depressed" state when he just drops like a log when Marie pokes him with her finger.

*Whew* Well, can't wait for the subs to find out what's really going on.

Perfect summary. Not even I could have described with the best of words.

Yep. The episode showed how good chemistry Yuuji and Chihaya make as friends, chatting to each other about a hobby that the two of them enjoy much. Unfortunately, Kazuki starts to get an uneasy feeling for those two; jealousy perhaps. As much as she wants to internalize her feelings with the obvious and logical justification (that which Yuuji is reponsible for) due to Yuuji's echiness, she's starting to warm up for him.

Also, Hatsune became disappointed and frustrated that both Yuuji and Kazuki could not get along; gives more grounded basis that she's rooting for those two to eventually get together and ending up confessing that they love each other and is been planning all those timely chances for make it happen.

I could not either understand much about the conversation, however, I may have a vague idea.

I believe that Yuuji wanted Kazuki to apologize to Chihaya, because she's (Chihaya) been a dear friend to her (Kazuki), and the former just was playfully teasing the two of them.
He then said that if Kazuki did not apologize, then he will hate her. That's why she understood the message with tears trickling, and said she'll also hate Yuuji and will never speak to him again.

Kazuki simply started to get jealous about Chihaya being kindly familiar to Yuuji at school.

Well, basically Chihaya and company try to patch things up between Kazuki and Yuuji. One heartrending scene happens when Kazuki and Chihaya talk on the way to Yuuji's house, with Chihaya apologizing profusely (perhaps for "stealing" Yuuji away), then Kazuki talking about lots of things about Yuuji (with scenes of Yuuji, from childhood to present, flashing on screen) and eventually Kazuki breaks down crying. Then some funny stuff happens when the two of them sneak up on Yuuji's room from the veranda. First they're irked on seeing Yuuji's head on Hatsune's lap before she wedges it between her breasts (though Yuuji quickly gets up from it), then Marie scares the two girls who then hide when Hatsune looks around - first they hide on the side, then on the roof. Later Yuuji starts talking about Kazuki (again not sure what about since my Japanese is still too rusty), but enough to get Kazuki listening. Finally Yuuji takes his digital camera where he shows the picture he took of Kazuki with an angry face the previous episode. Here seems to be the kicker - Hatsune compares that picture with the childhood pictures of Kazuki, where Kazuki never looked at the camera, whereas in Yuuji's digital cam, Kazuki is looking straight at the camera. At this point Kazuki gets irked somehow and falls off the roof onto Yuuji, who somehow catches her (Chihaya also falls off, but is saved by Marie using a fishing line ). Kazuki then grabs the camera and deletes the picture. Yuuji protests at first, but Kazuki then says something that suggests perhaps that she would prefer a much nicer shot of her taken. Later Yuuji prepares the shot with his camera on a tripod, but Kazuki looks paranoid (I guess she's camera shy, which explains the childhood pictures). Everyone cheers them on, and Kazuki relaxes with a cute face for the photo. It's at this point that Yuuji goes berzerk, puts on some crazy costume and makes strange remarks about Kazuki, which gets the two arguing again. But it seems to everyone else that things are back to normal.

Saw up to episode 06. Episode 06 was mainly a drama episode. I envision a compromise: if only Yuji possessed more self-control over his hormones, and Kazuki less uptight and perhaps let a man cop a feel once in a while like Chihaya, maybe their match would be ideal. But honestly, I have about as much interest in the interactions between our male and female protagonists as I do snails crawling across my lawn. So why am I still watching this show? Answer: Hatsune-neesan. This episode further showed her strength and appeal as a soft-spoken elder-female pillar of mental and physical support. While she isn't consciously aware of Kazuki&friends eavesdropping during her counseling with Yuji, it does demonstrate she has an innate sense of amelioration. And yes, the ara aras. Can't forget about the ara aras. With the next episode looks to be focused on Hatsune, I have the anticipation that episode 07 will be the climax of the series for me. Hatsune, in glasses...mmm...

A beautiful episode from both Kazuki and Yuuji seeing each other through their points of view.

It also establishes without denial that Hatsune plays a binding force not only to root for them and helping along the way to grow attached to each other, but also to guide them in finding out that they love each other and for one day to confess their feelings without shame.

Kazuki gets to know Yuuji a sensible and shy side of his persona, totally opposite from his lecherous daily self. The conversation she listened between Yuuji and Hatsune about the photographs, speaks great volumes about Yuuji wishing to make Kazuki smile; capturing her beautiful smile on camera.

Everything else went as Muir Woods and Sailor Enlil posted, though they skipped quite some touchy details.

Spoiler:

1. A quasi-dreamy scene with Hatsune being the host to a Q&A show and Chihaya as a participant to figure out that Kazuki got jealous, thinking that Chihaya was stealing Yuuji away from her.

2. Hatsune is psychiatrist cosplayer. She cosplays as a nun and has Yuuji resting his head on her lap to relieve him off stress and soothing him on an intimate environment, so as he can unashamedly confess her what are his thoughts toward Kazuki. Eventually, the therapy works for Hatsune, as Yuuji struck an epiphany and told her about Kazuki's photo.

3. Yuuji freaking out every time that he saw Kazuki, or she happened to meet him by chance. I believe this shock was provoked because of the mean exchange of hatred words that he told her, and Kazuki replying she wouldn't address him the word again.

After this episode what if Yuuji's lechery actually plays somewhat of a useful but freaky function?
I think that Kazuki can freely let go off her emotions and smile with more ease whenever Yuuji goes rampage on her.

If that's true, then Tona Gura! proposes an ingenious and original way how to make the female lead less uptight and more free with her quirks through ecchi therapy.

The costume that Yuuji put on him Marie corrected him it was an otter, though Yuuji incorrectly claimed he was a weasel.
Well, that is my take about the costume.

Kazuki got mad at the end with Yuuji, because I think he said that her smile was pitiful.

Unbelievable! Yuuji did not get shot or beaten in this episode.

A glasses-wearing and tea-drinking Hatsune graced my monitor in this episode. Yes, I believe I have seen what the best of Tonagura has to offer for me. Guess what, Marie-chan dislikes bugs too. I wonder, with all the heat she's packing, why didn't she just pull out her guns and try to bust a few caps on that beetle. I trust she has the accuracy to hit it. Anyways, Hatsune greatly loves Kazuki, so much so it actually becomes a weakness for her. It is also a cause and reason for aras, which there can never be enough. Now I'm going go watch some ARIA the Natural for more of that alluring ara ara.

Indeed, the episode was Hatsune-centric and proved hazardous to her health and the welfare of both Yuuji and Marie.

Spoiler for What I understood:

Hatsune caught a cold but kept it in secret from Kazuki, which the latter found out by piecing together several clues about her onee-sama's sudden disappearance from school thanks to the Hatsune boys fanclub.

She put Hatsune on bed and took charge for the vacuum-cleaning, brushing & moping, and cooking; Yuuji and Marie tried to take the coward's way out, but Kazuki dragged them both to her cuisine.

As always Kazuki's cuisine is dangerous to health, and she felt hopeless for not being a good sister to take proper care of her onee-sama. A comment which prompts Yuuji to call her idiot, then relaying another line of wisdom that she's not the only one concerned for Hatsune, but also older sister has Yuuji and Marie as well.
After that deep lecture, Kazuki boosts up her cheery mode again and takes initiative to prepare soup for Hatsune; Marie and Yuuji are keeping a scrutinous eyes on her every time to make sure she does not puts any unwanted ingredients to the food.

It appears that Hatsune wanted Kazuki to learn on how to be proper housewife in order to see her cute smile, which is the source of onee-sama's ara catchphrase.

There's some pseudo-yuriesque moments from Hatsune to Kazuki, because older sister wishes to spoil her little sister like caring siblings do.

The next morning Hatsune recovers but is now Kazuki who caught the fever, spelling a doom fate for both Marie and Yuuji. Because every time that Kazuki sneezes, Hatsune storms off like a bullet into her (Kazuki's) room to take care of the little sister in need which prompts an ara from older sister; Hatsune does not know that she's a causing a commotion and chaos all over the house.

At the end, the house became a mess and both Marie and Yuuji experienced the dreaded consequence having fainted and beaten up due to Hatsune's overindulgent sisterly love.

It was my very first hearing Marie addressing her brother with the onii-sama honorifics. BTW, paying close attention to Marie and Yuuji's faces, and you shall notice that both pull out the same gestures altogether and share similar disposition regarding Kazuki's cooking and Marie's playful yuri-esque for Kazuki.

I have to say, I am very pleasantly surprised by this series. At first I thought it was just brainless ecchi, but after watching ep 5 and 6, my impression completely changed. This is a very good series so far.

Tonagura is a very enjoyable ecchi comedy. Though Yuuji's ecchi-meter reach dangerous levels when the opportunities present themselves (Chihaya tempting him at Episode02, for instance), his pouncing ecchi-ness seems to be reserved for Kazuki.

It's great that the fansubs are up til Episode03 already.

But more than 7 eps are already aired, and the fansubs is still at ep 3. I would say the fansubs aren't doing that great of a job compared to other series, like let's say Zero no Tsukaima.

Anime Online may be referring to the fact that at least two groups released Episode 1 during the third week of July, and we didn't see anything else (other than the raws) for over a month. Ryu released the first three episodes during the past week, so we're in a lot better shape than we were. Previous to the Ryu releases, some of us were relying on the raws and summaries.
