You should make her get dressed up in a cosplay outfit of Tsunade and give it to her.....then she will start to like anime.

I think you guys are going way to serious, isn't this a lighthearted kinda joking post? I'm sure he doesn't really think she can't be trusted...

Just don't show her hentai or ecchi type stuff right off the bat.

My gf had never really watched anime but she really loves Sexy Commando now that I've shown it to her.

I'm gonna try to get her to watch some anime movies and maybe Airmaster next...

I think your girlfriend can be trusted, just not when you're asking for anime recommendations.

but if she hates anime to the core, do not trust her! never trust anyone who dislikes anime... bwahahahahahahaha. the elite okatu's club does not trust non members!

GodSlayerGuts, if you want to pick a fight, u should go somewhere else... dont go around insulting everyone just cos ur bored...

It's very childish to doubt someone's credibility and trust just because of taste differences in terms of eye candy. Surely you can do better than that.

I wouldn't recommend showing her any anime that's got the abovementioned stereotypes. Especially none of that trash like DBZ or Pokemon. Eugh. If you want to impress someone who's already prejudiced against something, you need to show them something that will either brutally shatter those prejudices and preconceptions clear across the street in a bloody spatter, or something that's very solid as a piece. Yu-gi-oh anime simply won't cut the butter.

Haibane Renmei and Serial Experiments Lain are both thought-provoking series and are worthy of viewing. Shingetsutan Tsukihime is also very well done. Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress are both good, and I've been told that Laputa is also good (haven't viewed it, however). You could also skip ahead in Kenshin and just show her the episodes of the Saito versus Kenshin duel.

I agree with the above comment. Just kinda ease her into watching it. Try something licensed first. I recommend Fruit Baskets it has humor and drama. Heres another one thats a good starter kare kano ( His and Hers Circumstances)
She won't get easily turned off because of the subtitles. Lots of females will not watch anime because of subtitles, reason to lazy.

If she's anti-subtitles (aka lazy) try Fruits Basket, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Millenium Actress, or Spirited Away cause they all have dubs.
As for fansubs, Aishiteruze Baby is teh cutest.

I'm a girl, and I think I'd find it hard to date someone who doesn't like anime. However, if you have other common interests, that's good and the anime issue shouldn't be too hard to get around. For instance, my boyfriend and I both like anime, but not necessarily the same series and we have different hobbies too. It's nice to be similar, but just different enough that you can do stuff on your own/with other friends.

Non-serious reply

My girlfriend told me right off the bat that she hates anime. One year later she is really into Fullmetal Panic, Escaflowne, Berserk, Hellsing and now she wants to know when I’m getting another Utena DVD. Ohh yes she has been turned.
