As of right now my favorite bands have to be:

Rise Against
Dope
Nirvana
Def Leppard
The Who
NIN ( Nine Inch Nails )
Queen

These bands should be at the top of the list for a lot of people too ;D

At the moment...

No Age. They are probably one of the best bands I've ever heard. Their music is all about texture, and no matter how weird or how over-the-top some layers of the record get, it's never pretentious and almost always works. Their record Nouns is a great little gem.

Flying Lotus is a solo electronic musician and producer from L.A. His newest release, Los Angeles is a fun little record of crackling loops and molded textures, very much parallel to the melting rubber on the cover of the album.

Jonsi and Alex are a two-person ambient band. Jonsi is from the extremely popular Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros and Alex is a notorious electronic musician. Their first record Riceboy Sleeps is probably one of the best I have ever heard. Ever. And I listen to a lot of music. The layers of each song provide such an imagery...really only very skilled musicians can do what these two manage to do.

And lastly, Kanye West, because he's a fucking genius.

Tokio Hotel is good in German but Ready Set Go is really the only song that translated well.
Another amazing band is Get Scared

I prefer their songs in German too. My favourite song is "Durch den Monsun" and its the first song I heard from them. As for their English translations, its not meant as a 1:1 translation of their German songs. But they have more or less the same meaning. I know this because my sister is a HUGE fan of them!
