We've got a rough idea of what the OVA will entail.
"Grab bag" is an appropriate word. Martial arts! School murder mystery! Baseball! Hot springs! Hero of justice! The point is, if Campenella was previously not in such a genre, it is now. |

It's a rather obvious reference (same company and all), but the school uniforms that Team Oasis wears are the same ones from Happiness!

Shukufuku no Campanella - a brief review
Well, that was boring. It wasn't quite as horrible as I expected though.
I can't say Shukufuku no Campanella is plagued with atrocious and inconsistent writing. But this is one of those bad anime that makes you think "why am I still watching this stuff?" It is an energy black hole that makes you feel tired from boredom after most of the episodes. The first 2 thirds of the show is not much else other than a bunch of incredibly uninteresting characters living out their silly little lives. There is a lot of foreshadowing and a proper introduction to the concepts of the anime's universe, but all of that could have been done in 3 episodes rather than 8. So many scenes and almost entire episodes were simply pointless displays of cute girls talking to each other. It's not even endearing or sweet like K-On or anything. It's just disgustingly saccharine, especially with the awful seiyuu performances. (If I hear Minette's voice one more time...) And the humor is not funny at all. Even the twins' jokes fail hard. However, I was surprised by something: all this awful blandness was actually followed by a story with a bit of substance and a few meaningful themes. The story of the last few episodes did a decent job of pulling together all the characters and concepts and wrapping it up with a finale that felt planned out and organized. Too bad the overly saccharine writing and execution persisted throughout here; a lot of the phrases characters said and the playing out of events were extremely corny and difficult to take seriously. This anime is so flat, so innocuous, so outstandingly inconsequential that I have no will to rant about it any further. 2/10 Only see Shukufuku no Campanella if you're really bored, want to see some boobs and fanservice, or if you just enjoy deliberately watching legitimately bad anime like I do. The plot of this is there, but it's mostly spread out like butter and is dispensable. |

Unlike tempester, after watching various poor anime series, Campanella managed to pull out enough sugar to make me question mysefl why other series can't just bring some comical characters from the secondaries like Ritos, Salsa and Garnet.
Not perfect but better by far then other series. 9/10. That season wasn't that good either. |
