Concerned... Whedon doesn't have the best track record when it comes to TV shows not called Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Granted those last 2 he did were in Fox so maybe ABC would cut him some slack this time?

I really don't expect this. Quite a number of young characters in S.H.I.E.L.D.
Do they aim for becoming the next Smallville or Buffy?

Ming-Na isn't exactly young, she'll be 50 this year. Why she's doing action roles at this stage in her life....~shrugs~

Don't know what to say about this yet. We're likely to expect some hero cameos along the way.

I don't get it
if this was supposed to happen after avengers

even if this were canon or a spin-off, isn't Coulson supposed to be dead?

Furthermore, they never show the medics announcing Coulson's time of death in the Avengers.

1. No one ever dies in Marvel.

2. In the Avengers film, Fury is a liar.

Edit: Uncle Ben of Spiderman is the last remaining example of someone who stayed dead. In the comics he complained about how he is all alone in Heaven because no one else ever sticks around.

The Coulson in the SHIELD series could be a Life Model Decoy and the real one did die in The Avengers.

More likely Nick Fury lied. Not only to the Avengers but to Coulson's co-workers.

And it was Coulson's idea as the Avengers would come together to avenge him.

Though I don't think he expected Nick Fury touching his cards.

Comic-Con: ABC Treats Fans to Surprise ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Screening:

"ABC surprised attendees during the Comic-Con panel for Marvel’s “Agents of
S.H.I.E.L.D.” by screening the full first episode of the series, that premieres Sept. 24.

Episode played well with the several thousand filling the room, generating a rousing
reaction and thunderous applause.

Episode makes many references to Marvel’s movies and comic book characters in
“The Avengers” universe, and reflects the light tone seen in that film. Marvel sees
the show as a way to appeal to fans but also bring in new ones."
