I just learned from a recently unbanned member that one's list of Subscribed threads is erased upon being banned. Just thought I'd bring that to the administration's attention in case this isn't intentional and you guys were unaware; it's fine if this extra penalty is intentional design. This seems like the kind of thing that an admin could easily select/deselect in the Moderator Control Panel if someone wants to change it.

Ahh, so it's like if you lose a life in a video game. All your power ups are gone and you have to start over from a checkpoint.

Indeed. It would be like if Megaman lost all his robot powers after losing a life and went back to only being able to use his Mega Buster. Truly a sad, sad fate.

Hah! That's hilarious if it is true. You should definitely have a "save" feature in case a player loses one of his/her many life while palying the Asuki-RPG.

Until this point in time, when you were temporarily banned, you could not access any threads while logged-in.

I suspect that one of the forum's automatic maintenance scripts probably goes through periodically and removes all subscriptions for threads that you no longer have access to, and as a result removed the subscriptions for banned users.

But, actually, not being able to see threads while you're banned is sort of pointless, because all you need to do is logout and you can see everything again. So, in this case, it makes no sense to block that permission.

I've changed the permission now so that banned users can still see threads (though obviously can't post or anything else), and it seems like this may solve the problem. (My Googling also seems to suggest that this permission is what causes the problem.)

If this happens to someone again, please let us know and we can perform further tests.

It seems like only certain subscriptions are removed, not all. I'm not sure how it determines which are removed.

It's good to see this changed now.

I have seen quite a few members visit just the threads they Subscribe to, making their User PC be able to show up to 50 threads at one time, even if that member is a daily visitor.

Meaning: They would have to go through all those threads again and Sub to every single one of them.
Heh, a good way of saying "Keep to the rules, or else..."

slightly related: while you're on probation the size of your PM box gets drastically reduced, so if you want to send a PM that reads FUCK THE POLICE to the fascist poor overworked sod who banned you, you usually have to delete a bunch of old junk that you may or may not be worth keeping first

then again this might actually be a feature and not a bug, and it's been a while since I tried it, since I've had the unusual experience of not being probated in a while, so it might not even be a problem anymore

I think the PM box size issue was fixed when we increased the mailbox size for everyone. From what I can tell, they match now.

Bizarre. That said, at least with this extra detail it'll allow me to run some tests to see if the new permissions fixed the problem, so thanks for the information.

Well, there's this one corridor that you have to drop down and it's lined with spikes. Although a lot of people would claim "L2P"; it can be quite deadly.
