My problem always lies in the beginning of the story.... If I could do a good beginning, I can go full stride on the rest (for middle part at least).

For now, I had a better idea on how Joan is like than my own main lead.

I think I really need to simplify things... instead making it too complex.

Spoiler for Soul searching Rants:

The first draft is felt a little imperfect because I had new ideas on how things should work out....

Mostly deal with introduction to antagonist/rival....

Anyway.....Since Eratas currently is my beta reader but he is busy...so while waiting on his verdict for the first draft, I will go back to the drafting board again to draw up a second draft....(Using the same lead because I am too lazy to think up a new meaningful name...(Ya, really. I always do research on names before I use them and I am really tired of keep doing research on name.)

(@Eratas: Don't worry and just give your verdict (for the first draft) anyway (even while I am working on second draft), because I know how to direct the second chapter (of First Draft's chapter 1) back into introduction of antagonist. The only problem with that is: It felt a little awkward and rushed for me....)

Does anybody have tips on writing style? Whenever I write a story it feels.....stiff. Kind of like it only focuses on the characters actions and everything else is ignored.

Spoiler for Scene~!: “Wolf One!” Yells Aegis Three over the comms as she approaches the drone from behind, landing rifle shot hits on its back to distract it from the Minerva Kai. The drone shifts its attention to the Rafale Revive Basic IS and attempts to take aim but Inami projects a heat wave with his lance, striking the drone’s side which causes significant damage to its armor. She brings herself into hover next to the Minerva Kai while scoring a few more hits on the drone with her rifle, throwing the drone into momentary disarray. “Wolf One, you all right?” “I’m good, no worries… The residents?” “Safe and sound. There’s also a couple if Academy students amongst them as well.” “That’s good to hear.” He looks back at the drone and notices that it’s charging up a shot on its wings. “Watch it!” He then pushes Aegis Three away as the drone releases the beam shot which grazes his shield barrier. “Tch.” “Wolf One!” “It’s nothing. Keep the tango engaged, Aegis Three.” “On it!” She resumes her attack on the drone, scoring headshots which throws off its focus while Inami fires his thrusters and ascend. He holds his position and looks down on the drone as it attempts to retaliate with uncharged shots. “Guess I should try this…” He mumbles and deploys the Karin system, quickly encompassing the Minerva Kai in layers of heat. He releases the TsukiAkari lance and sets his sights onto the drone, noticing that small pieces of its armor are breaking off from the Aegis Three’s attacks. Slowly clenching his fists, he dives towards the drone head-on. “ULTIMATE… NISSHOKU…!” He yells out in effort and does a front flip, putting up a concentrated barrier on his the base of his right foot, pointing it towards the drone. “KIIIIIICK~!” The drone hears the yell and looks up just as the Minerva Kai’s feet lands on its chest. The intense impact of the barrier dive-kick literally disintegrates the drone’s armor. The sight of the replica drone breaking into pieces surprises Aegis Three as she then instinctively puts up a barrier shield. *BOOM* Driven unstable from the concentrated heat of the Karin system, the drone’s spherical core unit explodes with great magnitude, vaporizing the last of its remains. __________________ "You cannot be bad at watching a movie. The change in status is accompanied with a short series of notification tones. Sitting in front of the monitor is Gerald, the head commander of Praxidike, who cringes slightly at the apparent fate of the Gospel replica drone. “Tch… Impressive. Guess that brings me to the next phase.” He types on the holographic keyboard and brings up a tab showing a new drone model in development. “Hmm…” He then taps a button on the desk next to the monitor. “Yes? Bastion-san?” Says a male voice from the speaker. “What’s the development progress on Astra?” “Forty-ish percent. Due to having extremely simple personality (and ridiculous) simple concept, I had a clear picture on how on how Joan is like and how he interact with other characters). How ridiculously simple is Joan's base concept? (Well, he is a shy and sensitive guy who looked like a girl...enuff said) While the current Male lead's based concept is honestly a mess. I also need to based the male lead more on personality which I can identify with.... (Sure, it will increase the Gray Stu level a little but it make it easier to think and write since I can associate with the character). No matter how much I tried, I can't seems to get fire up....over mundane stuff...(unlike Yuu who have an excuse why she is hot-blooded being (With her being a Mecha fan. I just picture the excitement of watching a Mecha show and apply it to her.) Because I am lazy, this is why I rather reused Ignis' story instead of typing out a new one.... Yet I am a perfectionist... if I feel something don't work, I scrap everything and rework again... Because of my perfectionist side and lazy side clashes, I end up feeling very conflicted.....
