Hmmm...strange...

I got Kyoko's good ending first and then followed by Kaho's good ending. I thought that the decision-making was quite straight forward. This was one of the games that made me relaize that there is more to Bishoujo games than just sex scenes...

And even for the sex scenes, they were done really well...

1.) You only have at most one sex for one girl for one night per path
2.) You actually have feelings for the girl, and she has feelings for you.
3.) You are actually making love in the good endings. So, unlike the usual porn, which makes you feel degraded, with Crescendo's scenes, you actually feel alive, human, loved, and thankful to the universe. So the way you conduct sex reflects your inner conflict. If you are angry or confused, you hurt the girl. If you have overcome your indecisiveness, you pleasure her. I can't forget Yuka's (the prostitute) comments when she said, "Please purify me." I then realized that there is another side of the men = beast / rape equation which is the unfortunate stereotype.

Very enlightening. I wish they had this in Sex Ed.

Wow, thats some serious thread necromancy! Glad to see Crescendo is still being discussed though. I think out of all the translated releases, its still #1 or #2 on the list of best translated games, depending on how you feel about Kana.

Glad to see folks are still discussing it!

Being a fan of b-games, I'd love to lay my hands on this, but right now all I've managed to get is Ever 17 (a good game in its own right).

Does anyone know the artist for the characters in this game? I KNOW I've seen the artist's work in some h-mangas before, but I'd love to know the name.

For those of you who have played both Crescendo and To Heart 2: XRATED, which did you enjoy playing more? Which was a better game in your opinion, and for what reasons?

And for that matter, would this game have been as emotionally hard-hitting without the h-scenes? The way some of you describe them make them sound almost like works of art in themselves.

I really have to get this game somehow . . .

Artist's name is Yumiya Yukarigawa, I wish I could give you more information but google failed me... I didn't like her art in Crescendo, maybe too shoujo-ish, for a bishoujo game, heh.

As for h-scenes, in my view, they are just there, not really adding or reducing the game's value for me. Like I said in my previous post, I managed to finish the game without h-scenes in my first attempt, and that wasn't any less emotional than the storylines that had h-scenes in it.

By the way, have you played Kana - Little Sister, because in Crescendo you can go to watch Kana Movie which is a little spoiler for enging of Kana. I bought and played Kana first before buying Crescendo because of that.

I think that some of the storylines could be done without the H, but a couple of the others would be very hard to do without the underlying H-scenes, particularly Ayame or Yuka.

I would have to say that the scenes themselves depend on the character. Some are pretty mild, some are pretty graphic. I think that they fit the characters well for the most part, Yuka's in particular made an awful lot of the storyline for that particular branch. You could do the storyline without the scenes, but it wouldnt have anywhere near the emotional impact that the uncut storyline would have.

The piano music is mostly by Scott Joplin, a ragtime composer from the early 20th century. (Sheesh, it sounds weird saying it that way.)

You can find the individual track names by listening to the in-game music player, in Extras.

The credits for the opening song, 'Spring Breeze', are listed in the game's end credits.

The opening song is performed by Naoko Futami. I don't think she's widely known, though - my guess is that she's just a vocalist for bishoujo game music. She also performed some songs on the Kana Little Sister Special Sound Album (another DO game).

For Yuka's path, I digress. While the bang-up on the third day was realistic, gritty as it was, Yuka's plea for Ryo to purify her was just..... out of place. I can understand if sex was necessary in her path, but I wish that D.O. had actually made the sex scenes available on other days, instead of forcing the penultimate sex scene on the third night.

That being said, Yuka's path has become my second fave., though I have yet to see Kaori's. However, I still hold true to one character path.

But I admit.... the sex in Crescendo is far more love making than the mindless porn in most other games. I mean, it's very rare when you see actual kisisng during such an act in the game.

One beauty of Crescendo is that it doesn't need hentai scenes.

Maybe it's just me, but justa s nn1 want to create a hentai/non-hentai option for Wind, Crescendo has this option in the choices you make. Having played Yuka's and AYame's paths, going for Kaho's hentai path just seems... out of place. If anything, this game seems to suit the mood when you want to play it. If you don't want the sex, just make the right choices, and if you get your cards right, you can still get a good story.

~

As for her art... I digress. I admit, I wasn't used to the huge eyes of every character in Crescendo, but exposure to Ouran High School Host CLub has made me sued to this.

Whenever I see Ryo Sasaki, I see Fujioka Haruhi. ANd whenever I see FUjioka Haruhi, I see Ryo Sasaki.

Problem with that reaoning is that whenever I think Ryo Sasaki, I also think Ryo Sakazaki, and I wish other Ryo had turned up during Yuka's path to shout "Kyoukugen-ryu Ougi ! WATATATATA ! WOH-PAH !"

Spoiler:
A few thoyughts on all this:

Ayame's path is really a sort of a reverse on Kana Little SIster. To say that Ayame is not suited for Ryo is like saying that Taka was not suited for Kana in that game. It depends on the individual player, and his own opinions. If anything, Ayame had a sense of duty, albeit slightly obsessive, for RYo, and this was the same problem Taka had when he faced Kana.

I won't say Ayame 'wanted' to be raped, and this also depends on the actions of Ryo. To be turhtful, it wasn't the rape that solidified AYame's feelings for Ryo, but the resultant repercussions that emanated from Ryo's own lust; that being the death of the Sasaki's, and the eventual distance between the two of them. If he didn't perform the deed, Ryo would be able to forgive his sister, one way or the other, outside her path, or within her path, for her own obsession, but, if he did do it, he has to face that the fact that he was also guilty for her resultant obsession. Kinda like how Kana's self-indulgence, and attempts to jump on Taka in KLS played out.

I ahven't tried out Kaori's path yet, but you gave the right feel for it. And I agree on Kaho.... stupid girl just played on Ryo's feelings

But for Kyoka... I digress. Kyoka lived alone, and had no one to take care of her. WHile it's true that she doesn't need Ryo (and her love for RYo is more out of an infatuation), I think she's far more suited to Ryo than Kaho. And besides, Kaho does have Tomonori. Ryo would only chase after Kaho for the same reason he would chase Kaori... though Kaho's less intellectual, she was soemthing of a companion.

And as for Yuka.... you are right. WHile I believe that Ayame is the better chocie for Ryo, Yuka's path is the only path where Ryo actually took the girl of his choice home to meet his sister. That doesn't include Kaori, as Kaori was already known to AYame, but, yes, growing up with Yuka would, perhaps, be another solution to the divide between Ryo and Ayame. However, I do wish that Ayame was around when Ryo brought her to his house on the third night. I rather that happened.... at least Ayame ahd some nursing training.

But my reasons for liking Ayame's path mainly stem from the fact that her sex scenes weren't out of place like the others (esp. Yuka's), and her relationship with Ryo is the longest and most compliated in Crescendo.

The reason why I like to call her path "Ryo, Ototo". Or maybe "Ayame, Onee-chan"

Here, I googled something (check Mokkori's post and below):

http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/277p1.html

Also check out page 4 of the Private Nurse game topic, they seem to have some information on the subject too:

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...t=15084&page=4

Else, just check google, do a search for "the system does not support ADPCM files". That's what I did to find those links. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, but I don't remember how I fixed it.

Late post!! late post!!

Phew, i know this is way late for me to post anything about this game, but i just found out this game recently after read some post in the gamepatch forum about this game,,

Hell?! this game's amazing,, i can't believe some American developer would decide to license this game (I was also surprised tho when i found out about kana) This game has some really great if not magnificent storyline with bunch of surprises here and there,, i was really engrossed to this game for about 2 weeks, and just can't stop playing this game,, i even stopped playing football manager... haha. The sex-scene isn't bad, but the story is what caught my attention.... i won't naively say this game is the best ero-game,, shuffle! trilogy is definitely better, fate stay night (don't read no japanese tho..) and many other un-translated game that only sold in Japan..

But i can definitely say that this game capture the drama of Graduation in very sweet way,, all kind of love stories are neatly packed in this game.. a triangle love with both of your best friend, kohai, your own onee-chan, school's sexy nurse ( a sensei), school's prostitute, hell! the sweetest ghost i've ever seen even made an appearance here....

Needless to say this is a fantastic game, too bad i don't find this sooner...

Here's my fave char in respective order: 1. Kaho, 2. Kyoko, 3. Kaori, 4. Miyu, 5. Ayame, 6. Yuka

Here's my fave ending (storyline): 1. Yuka good ending, 2. Kaho bad ending(no sex), 3. Kaori good ending, 4.Kyoko good ending 5. Kaho good ending

Here's another thing... anybody know about the japanese dvd version... anybody know on where i can get my hand on it.... you know.. through... something that if i mention could get me warned by the moderator.... if you get the idea please pm me so i can "get it".. thanx

good game, the whole concept of graduation brings back nostalgic memories.

EDIT: Wow just finished the game and I must say Miyu's story was extremely touching... When I was playing her arc the ending really gave me tears especially her supposedly best ending...
