Maybe the same as the others. He fulfilled the promise that Hikaru left behind about that got their got heartstrings. Even if the approach is unlike Hikaru.

She's so hopelessly naive for a high school girl tsundere. (and she's not even the biggest tsundere of the series) Any time she fusses about Koremitsu is bound for some gags (whenever he isn't, and sometimes is around. A third of volume 5 is basically lovestruck gags invoving her.)

Didn't read about what you posted in your spoilers. But I can believe it. Hikaru strikes me as such an extremely lonely and isolated person he sought affection and company at every single opportunity. Basically any girl he comes into contact with could be fair game in that regard.

But I'm also not sure if that makes a difference for his feelings for Aoi. Yeah he was a lonely guy who spent time with many women, but that doesn't mean that Aoi wasn't the one he wanted to be with the most.

I honestly can't say for certain how true his feelings for Aoi are. They're shown to be pretty true, but who knows. I also accept the possibility that they can be as real as he says they are.
