Now it's scheduled to air in January 2015, three and a half years after it was first announced.

I saw the trailers in RandomC and it looked awesome. Kinda strange almost no posts. Well they kinda took too long to make a new season.

lol There sure is not a lot of talk about this. Anyway, I watched the first episode and so far I like what I'm seeing. As always the series is slowly but steadily building up some serious stuff and I can't wait to see it all unfold.

The planned 26-episode television anime is set in the year 2151, two and a half years after the film Sōkyū no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth. The 10th-anniversary project will reunite the main staff from the first Fafner television series, including director Nobuyoshi Habara at XEBEC zwei and Xebec. Tow Ubukata is writing the project, and King Records' Gou Nakanishi is a producer.
I guess they could have goofed the info, but....

It's not "not a lot". It's practically nil. A few hours after it was aired (like 6h) there is still almost nothing. I went home after work thinking "oh I going to find some blog with some screenshots"... doh none. Seems like no cares for it. T_T

Which is sad, you know? Fafner is one of the really good mecha anime out there that offers more than just robots fighting (aliens). The characters and the plot are well-written, too.

I remember watching the first season, then the prequel film and the sequel movie and never once thought they ruined anything from the original story lines. Which is rare when it comes to sequels (don't wanna name names...but Gundam Seed Destiny, anyone?).

Yes, because the movie is tied in with the main story line directly and it carries some crucial or at least intruiging information regarding Festums. You can go on with the series if you really insist but I don't recommend it before you checked out the movie. The most important thing you'll miss is the return of an important character in the movie.

Probably not too much except some characters from the TV series aren't around anymore. There's an obvious timeskip. If it's crucial info then it will prob pop up again in the TV series as they won't want to lose viewers and it's been so long since the movie came out.

Let's hope you're right then because I imagine it must be odd seeing Kazuki with normal vision (no, his eyes didn't just heal over time) and Soushi being there as if he was never away.
