Favorite Kanon (2006) Quotes

A thread for your favorite quotes from the 2006 season of Kanon. Please don't type out the entire script from an episode quote your favourite part of any scene or episode.

And while I suspect it won't make much difference, "Uguu" isn't really a quote, won't stop it being added I bet

This thread will most likely contain spoilers! If you are posting a quote from a recent episode then please use spoiler tags. (hint,
text
).

If you wish you can also post quotes from the 2002 series of Kanon or from the game, but again it might be advisable to use spoiler tags if you do so.

Well, for now, one of my favourites would have to be at the end of Yuuichi and Ayu's date, when Ayu who was scared to go home at night by herself after watching a scary movie, and then when she finally decides to run home........

Yuuichi: Hyu.....doro doro doro doro doro doro doro doro doro doro doro doro!
Ayu: Uguu! Yuuichi-kun baka baka baka baka baka baka baka baka baka baka!

Yup, I was cracking up on that one.

Since you said it... "Uguu~"!

Just kidding. I don't think this quote really spoils anything (but those who know the story would understand what it implies), so not going to use the spoiler tag. It's from the game, but I have a feeling she said it in the anime too. Too lazy to rewatch the whole thing to check though.

"Haru ga kite... zutto haru dattara ii no ni" (「春がきて・・・ずっと春だったらいいのに」) - by Makoto

Makoto: "I was planning on showing you a good thing."
Yuuichi: "If it's you naked, I've already seen it."

That one cracked me up

Ah, forgot, sorry. It means "(I wish) spring comes... it would be nice if it's spring forever".

Ichigo Jamu, Ichigo Jamu, Ichigo Jamu, Ichigo Jamu.

I was waiting for that for several episodes. It's pretty early in the game that she likes her mother's strawberry jam and it's completely left out of the earlier Kanon. Reminds me of how she powers up in Eternal Fighter Zero

"思い出すな!"

I think it's this line that so far made the most impact. Personally anyways.

Edit: No, I don't know how to properly translate it. Uh… "don't release your thoughts"?

I'd go with: "Don't remember!" as 思い出す, while literally being "thoughts exiting," actually means "to remember/recall."

Episode 1, in the café:

Yuuichi: Sore de?
Ayu: Sore dake.
Yuuichi: Sore dake?
Ayu: Sore dake.

The changes of tone as that line bounces between the two of them never fail to make me laugh.

While that's technically true, it doesn't really sound right. Given the context, I keep on thinking a translation will be more similar to "Don't bring out your thoughts".

Actually, other than the meaning of the term itself, "Don't remember" does fit the context, since U1 didn't want Makoto to remember her true identity in the past, hoping that would prevent from leading her to the unaviodable fate in the end. I would go for "Don't recall it (i.e. the memory)!"

The only problem with that rendition is that no one talks like that

I guess "context" is the wrong word. In any case, "Don't recall it" sounds better to me. "Don't remember it" works also. Simply "Don't remember" doesn't fit as well for me.

Yes, the way people talk in Japanese differs from how people talk in English.

In any case, back to favourite quotes. Let's see…
"じゃ"
"「じゃ」じゃないよ"
"じょ"
"「じょ」でもないてばー"
Translation? Let's see…
"See ya."
"Don't just say 'see ya'…"
"See yo."
"'See yo' doesn't help either…"

Sayuri: "Did it suit your taste?"
Yuuichi: "You passed."
Sayuri: "What did I pass?"
Yuuichi: "To be my bride."

I am SO trying out that line in the future.

This series is such a treasure trove of quotes; even more so than SHnY, because compared to Kyon, Aizawa has so much more subject to flame.

Nayuki: "Neko. Neko. Neko. Neko."
Yuuichi: "I can't tell which one's the animal."

Yuuichi: "I see, so there are days it doesn't come out."
Sayuri: "What are you talking about?"
Yuuichi: "We're talking about Mai's constipation."
Sayuri: "Hae~"
Mai: "..."
