That'll teach me to listen to hearsay I guess.

Let's hope it gets a fast translation somewhere.

Umm well, I've read this topic which's about agth code to play Rewrite.
But I've some problem with that, when I use /HQN54@48693e, I can't run the game T^T
What should I do?

PS. I use Win7 64bit

Exactly what sort of error do you get?

It needs to be a shortcut of the game's executable. It needs to be linked to the target AGTH. The AGTH location comes first, followed by /c /HQN54@48693e then the actual exe location.

It should look something like
Spoiler for Path location:
and then you start it up from the shortcut.

Oh and the AGTH folder needs to be in your C drive.

Also the text hooking does not work on the introduction sequence, and only when the game properly begins.

AGTH doesn't have to be in the C drive. As long as the directory is correct, you can put AGTH anywhere you want.

Can you show the actual directory of your rewrite installation?

ReBirthal, is that the Rewrite Note PC you have, it being in Japanese and having that Akane wallpaper?
Well I tried the program called ITH instead of AGTH which was suggested a few pages back, and it worked with Rewrite by just selecting the correct process which was SiglusEngine.exe in ITH.

ReBirthal, are you able to run SiglusEngine.exe by itself without any problems (as in there is no "This game is Japan Only" sign)? If you can, try starting up the game and then run AGTH shortcut by replacing the part

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Key\Rewrite\SiglusEngine.exe"

with

/pn"SiglusEngine.exe"

The text should appear correctly when Yoshino starts talking (if you are running AGTH 2011.5.9).

Also your AGTH might be lacking Administrative privilege for Windows 7 and that is why it can't connect to load the game. Try right-clicking on the shortcut and "Run as Administrator".

So, what's the deal with the "This game is Japan only" anyway? Does Key not want Western fans playing their games?

Replace "Key" with "Almost the entire japanese VN market" and the answer is yes.

Well, I guess my error that is about /HQN54@48693e code.
Because when I use "C:\Program Files (x86)\agth\agth.exe" /c "C:\Program Files (x86)\Key\Rewrite\SiglusEngine.exe" , It can play normally...

Ummm I change to use ITH, It's awesome!!! >w<"

Spoiler for the whole game:

Bah, curse one's rambling on high-dose caffeine! Will probably post something more coherent later.

So those who have completed the game, without spoilers how does this rank with other KEY games. I know the difference in obvious fantasy elements but is the story solid enough?

actually, that is more for protecting the companies against possible legal issues than not wanting people outside of Japan to play it.

Indeed, but it still amounts to them not wanting us to play it (to protect them from legal issues).

It is those freaking morons who started the rapelay issue, the invoked fear on everyone. It is both they don't want foreigners taking legal action, since that is how it started, it was outsiders. It is a shame since many of us want to play their games. At least we have found a way around it.

not exactly, for example, for demonbane released by JAST recently, Nitro wanted the disclaimer that the US version is released for US market only (or not for Japan use, I can't remember) because the US version is uncensored (pics), so that they will not be held accountable for the censorship laws in Japan. I'm not sure how that works for "only for Japan" clause, but probably something along those lines. perhaps with regards to the language or under 18 girls. well then again, Rewrite is not an eroge, so......

Overall as a whole, I would rank Rewrite above Kanon and Little Buster, but below Clannad (I have only played these games). There are many good tearjerker moments, but none that I can consider better than those in Clannad After Story. Of course, the True route is considered the best part of Rewrite and is better than many parts of Clannad. The story is solid enough with one major plot going on, but it could have been greater if Key tried harder.

I felt that romance was slightly lacking for a couple of heroines (I am talking about you Chihaya, your route practically can be called Sakuya's Route with you as just a love interest).

I will recommend Rewrite to those who liked KEY's games, but don't expect it to play exactly like Clannad or Kanon.

For those planning to play the visual novel, I propose the following order:

Kotori > Chihaya > Shizuru > Lucia > Akane > True Route

Kotori's route serves as an introduction to mysteries going on, while Chihaya's route introduces the roles of the characters. I believe the story just flows better in this order.
