With a bottle of Dr. Pepper by my side (product placement, work your magic), I sit down to watch. I believe we've hit a major turning point here. Suzuha's reaction was unusual. There's definitely more to her than she's letting on. What, I'm not entirely sure.

But the major turning point that came about was the Jellyman thing. It happening to a banana is bad enough, but to a person... I believe this is Steins's equivalent of the New-Gen murders in Chaos;Head. Something part of a conspiracy, gruesome to look at, pushing the plot in a new direction. But more scattered through space and time, of course. And of course, Rintaro KYOUMA only sees it as a method to take over the world. Rock on, you crazy scientist.

On a final, irrelevant irreverent note, what is it with anime and alpacas lately? Isana's got her rescued by a friend, one of them rampaged in Ygvarland, and the Lab members have an alpaca-ish thing on their TV for a lot of this episode. Perhaps it's because "alpaca" is a fun word to say.

Is there any doubt to me anymore that this is the best show of the season? I think not.

The likable cast, the setting, the gradually building up plot, the art... Everything is so spectacular to me.

While people have accused the show of being slow paced in nature I have rather been entertained the whole way through. Each episode unfolds with new revelations, and more information.

It seems that this episode is going to be the big turning point in the series. The plot will start to quicken up in pace after this.

Maybe it's a random guess, but could Kurisu have been killed by Suzuha in the first episode in that timeline?

I get the impression that she has some connection to SERN, perhaps through her dead father who died in an one of those experiments?

Anyone who liked Kurisu in the labcoat, repeat after me....HNNNGH! (Seriously, Kurisu Makise is possibly the only girl I've ever seen make wearing a labcoat look sexy).

Crikey, Okarin - what a dick he can be somedays. He loses a game, then screams at Kurisu purely because she called him Okabe instead of Kyouma? Not impressed with him making a girl cry.

Think he may have been trying to make up for that towards the end of the episode though - sorta sweet of him to be worried about Kurisu's safety instead of thinking about himself for a change (dick he may be on occassion, but I can see a KurisuxOkarin fan-club turning up somewhere along the line - honestly think that the "You're my assistant" line Okarin spouted out as a reason for why he was worried about her is a cover up. Okarin is after some scientist booty ).

Suzuha - certainly intrigues me now. Almost looked like she was ready to kill Kurisu with the stick in her possession - obviously I'm not sure why, but that will probably come around in time. Also find it bizarre that she didn't even know what fireworks were - surely everyone in a first/second world country has seen a firework?

The other animes I've seen have had their ups and down in quality over their first few episodes - but Steins;Gate has been all good, all the time.

Makise Kurisu uses Lab Coat. It is super effective! Critical Hit! Elestia has fainted due to blood loss!

Dear god, I saw the VN CG's of Christina in a lab coat, but now that it's animated, it is, dare I say it, even better than the VN! Combined with sexy, DYNAMIC posing, I was in total euphoria.

Another solid episode, pacing is as good as ever. Hoouin Kyouma is the best, self-proclaimed mad scientist!

Well she is a self-proclaimed soldier, just as we have another who is a self-proclaimed mad scientist. Although, which is the truth remains to be seen.

Although, I thought they could have made that particular scene less conspicuous and over the top.

I'm really loving this show. The cast is likeable and I like the slow-build up the plot. Steins;Gate may very be the best anime of this season. So we got entertaining dialogue as usual in this episode but Suzuha, and the reveal of the Jellyman's reports were the highlights. Suzuha is obviously not from this timeline. What she is, and why did she have a desire to kill Kurisu remains to be seen. So Sern has managed to create timetravel, although incomplete. They tested humans, only for them to show up in the past as disgusting jellified corpses *shudders.* The plot is slowly reaching the top point of a rollercoaster, its only a matter of time before we are given a hell of a ride.

Very good episode. Kurisu-tina in a labcoat

At first, I thought perhaps Kurisu's father killed her own, but after she stated that Kurisu doesn't anything yet and added Okarin shouldn't trust her, I started suspecting she was from the future. Her mistaking the fireworks for bombs sealed the deal. She's from a post-apocalyptic future which was brought about by Kurisu's actions somehow. Is the John Titor though? Hard to say. There might be several time travelers around.

Christina and Okarin's banter was highly entertaining as always. Loved the labcoat scene. Kurisu definitely looks hot in it. I'm craving for naked labcoats fanarts of her now...

I think it's definitely heavily implied she's form the future, but if she's a soldier, she may be working against SERN as a rebel.

I theorize that Kurisu is the reason that the time travel machine can be completed, and in her timeline SERN takes it from her. That's why she was killed in the first episode, to prevent the actual completion of the time travel machine.

But yeah, this doesn't exactly explain who John Titor is.

That scene feels a bit off for me though - I mean, I know Kyouma is pretty nuts, but his mannerisms when he insists on being called Kyouma feels a bit serious. Maybe it's just me, but the tone feels different than his usual mad ramblings when playing the game, that there may be a a deeper reason on why he uses a different name, or rather, this whole mad scientist charade. He's probably just nuts, but why exactly is he nuts?

The hypothesis that she's from a different timeline seems to hold water a bit. If so, it's probably a dystopian future though, as fireworks is invented pretty early in the past. I have a feeling that her anger is directed more towards the alternate timeline Kurisu (she hasn't done anything yet), or perhaps towards his father, who seems to be pretty important.

Great stuff overall, not enough Mayushii but we did get the weekly dose of tuturu~ and tiger rug.

You know, I begin to suspect that several members of the cast are assuming the name John Titor, Suzuha and Moeka have already showed to posses knowledge about future events. It would also make sense for the trap to have hidden that old PC in her own shrine, since she seemed to trust her father. They can be using the name John Titor to share information between different timelines. But all this is pure speculation on my part, so don't spoil my fun, even with PMs
