Watched episode 3:
Some unexpected drama. Kei being a man, and defending Grippen from the soldiers. Muffler in June. Well, a muffler from Gripen is good anytime of the year. ^^ I'm pleased. Will stick around to the final episode.

Still not sold on the storytelling of this show yet but that is one heck of an aerial fight this week. They added some dramatic music to make it more impactful.
Oh and it's obvious Minghua is jealous of Eagle lol

That was an alright episode. The action was pretty fun. I did enjoy seeing Gripen and Kei go to town on those Xi. Sure it was all pretty ridiculous with where the story went, but sometimes that is ok. A cute and likable girl was about to be taken in to be 'scrapped'. Fair enough that the only thing he could think of doing was running off with her. Not sure he had a solid plan for that, but at least he didn't freeze up and not do anything.
Gained some weird respect as well for Yashirodoori. He didn't have a lot of great options. Could send Gripen up, maybe save the city, and then she crashes and dies. Or could let her go. The city would be wrecked and maybe he could figure out a better solution for Gripen. Then she comes back and long term you get more of a benefit. At least he left the decisions to the individual that would be going on a suicide run. And he did jump on board the reckless bet without any real need to prod him. It's not anything great. But I'm enjoying the action at least.

To elaborate, Cold War Swedish war planning presumed that their air bases would quickly be knocked out in a war with the USSR a hypothetical invader, so Sweden's highway system incorporated reinforced 800 meter sections of road that could be used as small air strips for dispersed operations. The SAAB Viggen and Gripen were designed with STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) capabilities that allowed them to operate from those 800 meters sections of road. (Correction: I had originally said the earlier SAAB Draken had also been designed to operate from those 800 meters sections of road, but it appears that may not have been the case. While the BAS 60 plan had some 1500-2000 meter road runways that the Draken was presumably capable of operating from the 800 meter road runways came with the later BAS 90 plan.)

_______________ Anyway, the insert song from episode 4 is "awake from deep". Will remember this song as the time when.. while dodging laser fire, they totally raked the midsection of a giant spacefiship with a machine gun. Amazing what Gripen can do when she's not falling asleep.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_strip Alot of Countries been using those Highway Strip as improvised airfields if Airbases got destroyed by a first sign of attack.

So I was reading up a bit more about the Swedish road runways, and it seems there are actually two distinct types. The road runways made for BAS 60 were typically 1500-2000 meters in length and acted as back up air bases. The shorter 800 meter long road runways were made under the later BAS 90 plan and were considered components of larger air bases. They were connected to their base's main runway via taxiways (also often public roads) and acted as back up runways in case the main runway was knocked out.

Episode 5 is out.
That Eagle girl has a rather childish personality tbh. I think she may have both an inferiority and superiority complex. Well anyways, I hope they actually develop these characters cause so far, they don't seem like larger than life to me. Curious about that Phantom girl though. It would be nice if the shows some background story for these characters. Seems Gripen, Eagle, and Phantom all developed a rivalry of sorts.

I know they want to make Phantom seem like she's in the wrong so the main character can get back at her. But I don't feel like any of the anger is justified. That's like complaining about Gripen getting to use her engines or weaponry. Electronic warfare is part of Phantom's kit. Why is she not allowed to use the things she is good at? Is that really cheating? Is it cheating for Eagle to use what she's good at to beat Gripen or for Gripen to use Kei's ideas or tactics in a fight?
It's a mock battle. Not like she's going to be messing with their visuals and readings during a fight against the Xi. In fact they'll probably appreciate what she can do against the Xi when it works in their favor.

Watched episode 5:
The highlight of this episode for me is Gripen trying to reach the bars. Then Gripen inviting Kei to her room, she showed him a good time indeed. xD Phantom seems to be the most mature of the three airplane girls. She behaves like an adult, and a tricky one too.
